The performance gains result from a new engine and a trans mission, while the comfort and convenience story for 1964 is high lighted by the first fully* auto matic year round conditioning system ever offered in an auto- mobile. Harold G. Warner general man ager of Cadillac and vice president of General Motors in announcing the 1964 models said they would appear in dealer’s showrooms on Thursday, October 3. The 11 models, one less than last year, are realigned into three series: three models are in the Sixty-Two series, four models, in cluding the convertible, are in the de Ville series, and four models in the Fleetwood series. The driver sets a dial thermostat on the instrument panel and Comfort Control does the rest, supplying cooled or warmed conditioned air at the temperature specified. Front and rear styling changes reflect the appearance of greater size and breadth while the low profile, long and unbroken, is ac cented by lowered Cadillac tail fins. A choice of 16 colors are avail able. And five glamor colors in the new high lustre firemist paint are offered at no extra cost on the Eldorado Convertible, and as an extra-cost option on other mod els. Inside the 1964 Cadillac 124 combinations of interiors are of fered including a new perforated leather available at no extra cost in the Coupe de Ville, four-win dow Sedan de Ville and Sixty Special sedan. Padded roofs are optional on the four-window se dan de Ville and Seventy-five Se dan and Limousine as well as the Coupe de Ville and Sixty Special sedan. An automatic headlamp and tail lamp control called Twilight Sen tinel is a new option which in cludes a time delay action allow ing the driver up to 90 seconds to get into the house before car lights turn off. The automatic headlamp dim mer, relocated to the front fender from the instrument panel, a pow er window de-activator switch and seat belt retractors for outboard front seats round out the 1964 accesory group. Catalina sports coup and con vertible models are available with Pontiac’s new appearance option “2 Plus 2” which includes bucket seats, all vinyl trim, floor con sole, premium fuel two-barrel en gine, deluxe wheel discs and wood inlays on steering wheel spokes and instrument panel. The “2 Plus 2” name plate appears on the inside of the doors, on the front fenders and on the lower right side of the deck lid. On Catalina sports coups, the special trim op tion provides bright metal drip f "Holdings. The name “2 Plus 2” has reference ' to two passengers in front and two in the rear. Fifteen exterior paint finishes are offered for every Pontiac mod el and are available in single or two-tone combinations. Pontiac Tempest for 1964 em erges as a new and different breed of car with all-new styling, new engines, new frame, new bod ies and new interiors. In addition to the regular Tem pest and LeMans models, a new Custom series is introduced for 1964. There will be nine different models available in the three Tem pest series.
