Sunday, May 20 “Open House” will be held for the inspection of the Opera House by inter ested citizens. CITY OF NEWBERRY Died Sunday Robert T. Mayer, formerly of Newberry, died Sunday night at the Georgetown hospital after several months of serious illness. Mr. Mayer was born and reared in Newberry and was the son of Mrs. Carrie Emma Warner May er and the late Ebenezer Thomp son Mayer, better known as “Eb.” Mayer. He attended the city schools of Newberry and was a graduate of Newberry college. Mr. Mayer was a prominent South Carolina fun eral director, having operated the Mayer Funeral home in George town for a number of years. He was active in the S. C. Funeral Directors Association and had held almost every office in the association. He was a member of the Methodist church in George town. Prior to going to George town he was connected with the McSwain Funeral Home here for a number of years. Mr. Mayer is survived by his wife, Mrs. Josephine Etheredge Mayer, Georgetown, and formerly of Saluda; one son, Robert T.; one daughter, Mrs. Josephine Carl son, Texas; his mother, Mrs. E. T. j Mayer, Newberry and Orange-! burg; two brothers, Jake B. of Georgetown and E. B , of Mount Pleasant; one sister, Mrs. John L. Fairey, Orangeburg.
