Army Recruiting Stations was announced today by the South Carolina Recruiting District Headquarters at Fort Jackson. As a result of this change, Newberry County is now in the area covered by the Colum bia Recruiting Station. Master Sergeant C. G. Thompson, from the Columbia office, will visit Newberry each Tuesday and will be available at the Selective Serv ice Office in the Court House from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. to ans wer any questions concerning the new Modern Army. Bowers, Spartanburg, branch manager of the Sperry and Hutchinson Company announced distribution here of the new 1960 S&H Green Stamp Ideabook, re ported to be the largest single edition in business history. Initial printing order of this catalog is 30 million copies, Mr. Bowers said. Of the more than 1,500 items offered for redemp tion to S&H Green Stamp savers, a record number of 1,000 is shown in the catalog’s 100 pages. Nearly half of this merchandise are new additions, Mr. Bowers stated. Among the many items listed are a number of products made by manufacturers in this State and distributed through more than 625 S&H Green Stamp redemption centers across the nation. Featured in its pages are rodm settings from five American homes. Miss Hawkins Is Gamma Sigma Head Barbara Hawkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. *B. D. Hawkins of Prosperity, was elected president of the Alpha chapter of Gamma Sigma, honorary psychology so ciety, at Newberry College. El ected to serve with her were Syl via Wood, vice president; Sylvia Spradley, secretary; Edna Earle Fant, daughter of Mrs. T. M. Fant of Silverstreet, treasurer; and Sara Ella Yount, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. N. D. Yount of Whitmire, program chairman and historian. Berlin Boozer Stuck, 23, of Rt. 1, Pomaria, died late Monday night at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. He had been ill for 10 months. Mr. Stuck was born and reared in Newberry County, a son of Charlie B. and Verdie Bundrick Stuck. He had lived at Rt. 1, Pomaria, all of his life and was a 1956 graduate of Pomaria High School and a student at Newberry College. K Long Infant Dies In Texas Jeffrey Buford Long, four-and- half-month old Son of Mr. and Mrs. William Buford Long, died early Tuesday at the Southeast General Hospital in E}1 Paso, Tex as. He had been ill since birth. Mr. Long is a native pf New berry County and has been con nected with Continental Air Lines in El Paso for the past three years. Mrs. Long' is the former Miss Roxanne Terry of New River, Tenn. Surviving besides his parents, are his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Harmon of Rt. ,3 Newberry; his paternal great- grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Epting of Chapin, and Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Long Sr. of Rt. 3, Newberry; and his maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. H. W. West of Helenwood, Tenn. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the McSwain Fun eral Home in Newberry. The body is expected to arrive early Thurs day and will be carried to the fun eral home.
