Chappells Chib Sees Style Sho w ( By CLUB REPORTER) The program given at the Chap pells Community Club meeting on Tuesday night, April 5th, was a Fashion Show. One of the club members, Mrs. Ralph Johnson, teaches home economics at Ninety Six High School, and some of the members of her classes modeled dresses, suits, skirts and blouses that they had made during the school year.- Mrs. Johnson intro duced Miss Kay Turner, who in turn introduced each model and gave a description of the garment she was wearing. Everyone enjoy ed the program and are grateful to Mrs. Johnson for bringing the program to us. Mrs. J. C. Arant gave the de votions and she chose a medita tion by Dr. Courtney, “The Easter Lamb.” Prior to the program a deli cious meal was served the club members and guests. Don Jacoby To Conduct Clinic Here \ The first annual Stage Band Clinic of South Carolina will be held at Newberry Cqllege on Sat urday, May 7. The clinic will be conducted by Don Jacoby, who is rated among the top trumpet art ists in the country. The clinic band will be the Col lege “N” Orchestra from the cam pus of Newberry College. Through concerts given in various high schools over the state and music furnished for high school and col lege proms, this group has become very popular throughout South Carolina. The orchestra is under The Library Committee seem to be Accomplishing quite a bit and we hope in the very near future to be hearing important announce ments from them. Everyone is in vited to use the Library. Dr. Long and Mrs. Chisholm were at the Clinic on Thursday af ternoon, April 7th, and quite a number attended. We urge every one to take advantage of this op portunity. V Air Force To Seek Cadets ,, M-Sgt Charles F. Georges, Air Force Recruiting Official said to day that an Aviation Cadet Se lection Team will be in Newberry at the Student Lounge of New berry College 21 April to select young men for entrance into Cadet Training. C.‘ State HighVay Department, will be guest speaker at the meeting of the Kiwanis Club today (Thurs-/ day) at 1 p.m. it the Commun ity Hall. Kiwani-Annes will also be guests of the club for this occasion. Sgt. Bailey was born in Un ion and became connected with the State Highway Department as patrolman on February 16, 1937. In later years, he began making safety addresses and now devotea his full time to safety education and public re lations. An expert pistol marksman, who has been on the Patrol Pis tol Team for 18 years, Sgt. Bailey has helped train at least three-fourths of the men now on the patrol. The Sergeant is married and has two sons, Joe and Jim. He is a member of First Baptist Church, Columbia.
