Stribble, 87, at Glenn Street Ext., died eudenly Monday morning while walking in the Mollohon Community. Mr. Stribble was born on ship en route from Germany to the United States, a son of Paul and Rosanna Stribble. He had ■pent most of his life in New berry and was a retired ma chinist, formerly employed at the Newberry Mills and at the Mollo hon plant of the Kendall Company. He was a member of Epting Memorial Church. He was married twice. His first marriage was to Mrs. Louvenia Bundrick Stribble who died in 1926. Surviving are his second wife, Mrs. Emma Koon Miller Strib ble; two eons, W. S. Stribble of Woodruff and A. B. Stribble of Newberry; six daughters, Mrs. ‘ Berley Fuller, Mrs. E. G. Rayfield, all of Newberry, Mrs. Ed Longshore of Kinards and Mrs. Shepard Whiteifer of Union; two step-sons, Carl Miller of Little Mountain and Frank Miller of Newberry; one brother, George Stribble of Newberry; 23 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conduct ed at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Epting Memorial Methodist Church by the Rev. Brice B. Blakeney and the Rev. Joseph E. Walker. Burial was in Rosemont cemetery. Mrs. Lipscomb’s Mother Dies Mrs. J. Hugh Stoner, 76, moth er of Mrs. James L. Lipscomb of Newberry, died Friday night at her home at Natural Bridge, Va. She was a native of that section. Mrs. Stoner was twice mar ried, first to the late Dr. D. C. Burks, father of Mrs. Lipscomb. Three of four sons also survive. Her second marriage was to the late J. Hugh Stoner. A daugh ter, Mrs. W. A. Whitlock, sur vives. Funeral services were held at Beth Eden Methodist Church, Natural Bridge Station, Va., Mon day. Mr. and Mrs. Lipscomb, Bruce and Susan attended the services, i William Boozer Service Monday William D. Boozer, 82, died Sunday morning at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital. He had been in ill health for the past week. Mr. Boozer was born and rear ed in Newberry County and was the son of the late William and Carrie Bailey Boozer. At the time - y> I of his death, he was making his home on route 1, Newberry. He was a retired farmer and a mem ber of Sharon Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Carrie Willingham Boozer; four sons, Horace T., W. L. and Granville Boozer of Newberry, and B. Ray Boozer of Clinton; two daughters, Mrs. Vera War ren of Newberry and Mrs. S. P. Bowers of Clinton; one half-sis ter, Mrs. Victoria Boozer of New berry; 13 grandchildren and sev en great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Moh- day from the McSwain Funeral Home by Rev. Cyril Hamm, Dr. P. L. Grier and Rev. H. A. Dun lap. Burial was in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Grandsons served as active pallbearers and granddaughters were flower attendants. Mose W. Padgett Dies In Hospital Mose W. Padgett, 65, retired farmer of Route 2, Prosperity, died in the Veterans Hospital, Columbia, Sunday after several years of declining health and two weeks serious illness. Mr. Padgett was born in Sa luda County, a son of the late Abner B. and Linda Padgett. He was twice married, first to the late Mrs. Bessie Johnson Padr get l, who died 10 years ago. Survivors of the first marriage include five daughters, Mrs: S. R. (Ruby Nell) Leaphart of Lexing ton, Mrs. R. F. (Louise) Koon of West Columbia, Mrs. J. L. (Mar gie) Leaphart of Aiken, Mrs. K. A. (Willie) Cousins of Easley, and Mrs. Earl (Lois) Coleman of Nashville, Tenn.; and 16 grand children. Burial was in West Creek cemetery. Final Rites For Mrs. Ethel Long Mrs. Ethel Allene Enlow Long, 43, of Route 2, Pomaria, died Monday afternoon at a local hos pital. She had been in declining health for a year and ill for a week. Mr*? Long was born and reared in the Union section of Newberry County, a daughter of George S. and Ada McCullough Enlow. She had made her home in the Beth lehem section for a number of years where she was a member of Bethlehem Church and the ULCW. She was employed by Shawnee Manufacturing Co. in Newberry. Surviving besides her parents are her husband, Ernest Heyward Long; three sons, Wayne Hey ward, Earl Davis and Derrill Stanky Long; one daughter, Linda Gale Long, all of Pomaria; four sisters, Mrs. J. E. Dowd of Clin ton, Mrs. J. T. Long of Richtex, Mrs. Ray Shealy of Little Moun tain and Mrs. Novine Wise of Prosperity; and two brothers, George Alvin Enlow of Richtex and Carl Davis Enlow of New berry. Funeral services were conduct ed Tuesday at Bethlehem Luth eran Church by the Rev. M. T. Cullum and the Rev. H. A. Dun lap. Burial was in the church cemetery. For Enlistees The Army today announced a recruiting program in the South east which will allow young men with high qualifications to enlist for assignment with one of two proposed United States Army Air Defense Command installations in Georgia. This special program will allow eligible applicants to enlist between January 15 and February 12 for duty with Nike- Hercules missile units to be lo- —— Christian Education at Aveleigh Presbyterian Church, prior to her marriage. Bishop, 65, a native of Newberry, died at his home in G r e e nville Thursday morning following a t sudden illness. The son of the late John O. and Nannie Jones Bishop, he was born in Newberry and had been a resident of Greenville for 45 years. He was a retired sample over seer, having worked at Dunean Mill for a number of years. He was a member and a deacon of Dunean Baptist Church and also a teacher of the Junior Boys Class of the Sunday School. The 2d Missile Battalion will be established at Albany, while the Macon area will house the 4th Mis sile Battalion. Each unit will re ceive S5 enlistees. Those men accepted during this program will undergo eight weeks of basic military training, after which they will be transferred to one of the two units of their choice for training and employment with missiles or electronics. The Army emphasized that only the first 70 qualified applicants throughout the Southeast could be accepted for this special program. Fcr further information about this unique program, interested young men of this . area should contact the Army Recruiting Serv ice representative at the County Courthouse, Room 2, on Fridays. Mrs. Nichols, county chairman, presided. Some of the accomplishments during recent months were listed as follows: the chapter paid trans portation for three wiildren to clinic in Columbia 'and for two children to the Christmas party given for crippled children in Co lumbia; three rolling chairs have been bought for patients; and a teacher was provided for a home- bound child. Members present discussed the approaching fipid campaign but no definte plaps were made as there will be another meeting soon for that purpose. HARTS ADOPT YOUNG SON M-Sgt. and Mrs. Marion H.
