Returns Home After Stay In Hospital Mrs. Bernice Werts, who has been a patient in the Veteran's hospital in Columbia for the pas^t month, is now at the home of her sister, Mrs. Julia Blalock on Cald well street where she was carried Wednesday of this week. Her con dition is somewhat better. Attends Wedding Of Grandson Mrs. C. Fo Lathan will attend the wedding of her grandson, C. A. Bridges to Miss Naomi Banks, at Grace Lutheran church in Rock Hill, June 26. Aveleigh Church Schedule Changed The hours for services at Ave leigh Presbyterian Church have been changed beginning Sunday, June 26. In the future, Sunday School will begin at 9:45 a. m., and worship services at 11:00 a. m. Corley Funeral Plans Incomplete Benjamin FVanklin (Red) Cor ley, 47, died suddenly Tuesday af ternoon while working on his farm in the Jolly Street section. Mr. Corley was born in Saluda county, but had spent most of his life in this county. He was a son of the late George and Geor gia Warren Corley. He was twice married, first to the late Louise Elmore. Surviving are his second wife, Mrs. Nellie Hyler Corley; three sons, Billy Ray, San Diego, Calif; Bobby W., Eau Gallie, Fla;, and Aubrey F., Newberry; three daughters, Mrs. Betty C. Amick, and Misses Sallie Frances and Patsy Corley, all of Newberry; three brothers, J. N„ Joanna, and G. L. amd J. P. Corley, Newberry; one sister, Mrs. Julia C. Mrs. Enlow was born and rear ed in this county, a daughter of the late Bachman and Fannie Adams Cromer. For a number of years she lived in the Zion sec tion near Prosperity and was a member of Zion Methodist church. She had been living in Union for about 30 years. Surviving are her husband, George L. Enlow; two sons, Noah and John, Union; five daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Hawkins, Mrs. Mirtie Vinson, Mrs. Gertie Stone, Mrs. Georgia Smith and Mrs. Cora Green, all of Union; two brothers. Forest and Rufus Cromer, New berry; three sisters, Miss Lula Cromer, Newberry, and Mrs. Bessie Wickers and Mrs. Bertha Bowers, Prosperity; 22 grand children and nine great-grand children. Miss Sylvia Faye Pitts of New berry became the bride of Luria Erastus Oumbee, Jr., of Aiken in a lovely ceremony taking place at eight o’clock Saturday evening, June II in the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer of Newberry. The Rev. Paul E. Monroe, Jr., pastor, performed the double ring cere mony in the presence of a' host of relatives and friends of the cou ple. Tall baskets of white gladioli, Queen Ann’s lace. Southern Mag nolia and white candles in can delabra and palms formed the church decorations. Family pews were marked with bows of white satin ribbon. Miss Harriett Didkert, or ganist and Miss Alice Carter, so loist, furnished the wedding mu sic. The ushers were John C. Cum- bee of Ridge Springs and Ray Younce of Atlanta, Ga., cousins of the bridegroom; Paul Slice of Chapin, Don Loadholt of Fairfax, Fred Duncan Pitts, brother of the bride and Herman Haskell Hamm of West. Columbia, cousin of the bride. The candles were lighted by Messrs Pitts and Hamm. Miss Jacqueline Clarkson of Newberry, maid of honor, wore a dress of wood violet nylon net over taffeta. The strapless bo dice with matching stole featur ed a long torso which extended into a ruffled bouffant skirL She carried a cascade bouquet of wood violet asters with background of net The bridesmaids were Misses Virginia Cumbee of Aiken, sister of the bridegroom; Margaret Ann Hunter of Newberry and Gail Pitts of Denmark, cousin of the bride. They wore dresses iden tical to the maid of honor’s and carried similar bouquets. The flower girl, Margie Duncan, cousin of the bride, also wore a dress fashioned like the other at tendants. The bride, given in marriage by 1 her brother Madison Pitts, was lovely in her wedding dress of Chantilly lace with low neckline and buttoned in back to the waistline. Tlu ng sleeves end ed in joints at « wrist. The full skirt with plaited front panel of nylon tulle extended into a oathedral train of chantily lace. Her veil of bridal illusion with a sprinkling of rhinestones extended the length of her train. Her bou quet of white asters and stepha- notis was centered with a white purple throated orchid. James Connelly of Sumter was the bridegroom’s best man. The bride’s mother wore a dress of lavender taffeta with matching Chantilly stole and purple orchid corsage. The bride’s grandmother, Mrs. C. C. Dunan, wore a blue nylon dress printed in sliver and a pink carnation corsage. ly after the ceremony at the home of the bride’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Duncan on Bach man street. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Madison Pitts of Newberry and the late Mr. Pitts of Denmark. She has made her home with her grandparents since her father’s death four years ago. She is a graduate of Newberry High school and recently completed a commer cial course at Newberry College. For traveling the bride chose a dress with bolero of Dior blue, with navy blue accessories and the orchid from her wedding bouquet. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Luria Erastus Cum bee of Aiken. He graduated from Aiken high school and from New berry College in the class of 1953. He is now a ministerial student at the Lutheran Seminary in Co lumbia. The couple left during the ev ening for Detroit, Mich., where they will work with the Lutheran Synod until September when they will return to Columbia for the bridegroom to continue his stud ies at the seminary. Hospital Patients Visiting hours at the Newber ry County Memorial Hospital are 10 a. m. to 11 a. m.; 2 p.m. to 4 p. m.; and 7 p. m. to 8:30 p. m.
