Stokea. Mr. and Mrs. Velio Norman of Chapel Hill, N. C., will arrive in the city Tuesday, June 7 to spend Che summer months with Mrs. Norman’s parents, 'Mr. and Mrs. fT. B. Dawkins on Martin street. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Ruff and dUnghter, Mrs. Julia R. Smith, apent Sunday in Winnsboro with Mrs. Ruffs sisters, Mrs. Ray Sail and Mrs. Eloise Morris. Mrs. Charlie Ruff and Mrs. Wm. Charles Ruff, Jr., and daughter, Osndace, were Sunday visitors in (he home of Mrs. Ruff, senior’s ai*ter, Mrs. R. R. MacFie, in VTinnsboro. Mr. and 'Mrs. I. Kaplan left fault Wednesday for a few day’s, wieit with their daughter in At- Santa, Georgia. Mr. Kaplan re tained home Monday and Mrs. Kaplan remained for an additional ten days visit Mrs. Stanley Baker of Arling ton, Virginia, is visiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs R. C. Floyd on Harper street. Mrs. H. K. Boyd and son, Maj. Hugh King Boyd, Mrs. Boyd and children, Jimmy and Hugh King, of Fort Bragg, N. C. spent the weekend at the Boyd home near the city. David T. Werts and daughter, Miss LuJa Werts, and Eddie Dub lin of the U. S. Navy, all of Wash ington, D. C., spent several days last week in Newberry with Mr. Werts’ sisters, Rosalind and Mil dred Werts on Hunt street, Mr. and Mrs. T. Scurry Riley of the Beth Eden section, and other rela tives and friends in the commun ity. Mr. and Mrs. George Keller, Jr. left last Thursday for a week’s vacation trip on a tour of interest ing places in Florida. MjSgt. and Mrs. Ralph Fellers and daughter, Rachel, of Fort Benning, Georgia, spent the past weekend in the homes of their parents, Mrs. Mayme Fellers, on College street and Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Shealy on the Cut-off road. Other weekend visitors in the home of Mrs. Fellers were her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Fellers and son Billy, of Columbia. Mrs. James Smith, Sr. is spend ing this week in Greenville with relatives. Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Goodman will leave Sunday afternoon for Statesville, N. C. where they will visit their daughter, Mrs. Albert White, Mr. White and baby, Jane. Kempson and Mrs. Kempson, of Columbia. Miss Alice Jean Riley, R.N. of Columbia Hospital is here visit ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Scurry Riley. While here she at tended the graduation of her twin sisters, Doris and Lauris at Newiberry high school: Mrs. Cleone Cheatham of Green ville spent Monday here with her sister, Mrs. Ida Mae Bedenbaugh. Mrs. Robin Oox of Donaldsvllle, Georgia, has returned to her home after visiting with relatives in Newiberry and Bishopville. Mrs. Vernon Carlton and son, Bobby, Mrs. F. L. Cox and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Bowers and two daughters, Ann and Betty, re turned to Newberry Sunday after a week’s visit in Chicago where they attended the National con vention of the Parent-Teachers association. Mrs. Carlton also at tended the convention of the Nat ional association of Stat? 1 Garden clubs at the Palmer House. Rev. and Mrs. N. E. Truesdale and daughter, Sata, left Sunday afternoon for Chicago where Rev. Truesdale attended the National Rotary convention the first part of the week. Rev. Truesdale was recently named president of the local Rotary club. They expect to return to Newberry this weekend. Mrs. John Goggans left last weekend for Danville, California, for a visit with her son and dau ghter in law. Dr. and Mrs. Walter Goggans and family. Dr. Goggans will soon be transferred from California to the Canal Zone. Miss Theresa Lightsey attend ed the commedcement exercises at Winthrop college at which her niece. Miss Annell Lightsey, < of Brunson, was a graduate. Mr. and Mrs. D. W. A. Neville will attend the graduation exer cises at Presbyterian college in Clinton Sunday. Their youngset son, WilllanK is a candidate for a degree. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stone and children, Harry, junior and David and Mrs. Clara Stone, left Tues day for Cleveland, Ohio fo^ a week’s visit. Mrs. Stone’s father, Mr. Halladay, who bps been visit ing here several weeks, returned to Ohio with them. Miss Ellesor is stationed with the Red Cross at Fort Jackson.
