Mr. Padget was born and rear ed in Saluda county. He was a very successful lumber manufac turer and had farming interests. He and Mrs. Padget erected a b« iutlful home on the Greenwood highway just out of Saluda a few are his Lucile Wise Padget; two daugh ters, Mrs. John L. Setter white of Beaufort; Mrs. Wade F. Hook of Chapel Hill, N. C.; one grand daughter; four brothers, Fletcher, Alvin, Joe and Jim; three sis ters, Mrs. George Etheridge, Mrs. R. H. Etheridge, and (Mrs. Luther Padget. The Associated County Women of the World asked UNESCO for a project in Ceylon, because there is so much that needs to be done in this little island which lies oft the coast of India. For one selected village $1,310,- 00, it is hoped, will develop that village into a demonstration com munity. There are 700 vUlages in Ceylon and 25 have been selected to. serve as an incentive .to sur- comm unities and The following is a report of ac tivities by the County Council of Farm Women; As we, the members of The County Council of Farm Women, Join with homemakers throughout the nation in observing the 10th annual National Home Demonstra tion Week, we humbly pause and give thanks to God for our homes of today as we build for tomor row’s world. . Working faithfully ,to accomp lish this (goal, wo have a group of women belonging to 18 clubs with an enrollment of 471 members and 13 honorary members. These wo men are members of the following clubs: * Beth Eden, Bush River, Friend, ly, Hartford, Jalapa, Jolly Street, Little Mountain, ML Bethel Gar- many, ( ML Pleasant, Macedonia, New Hope Zkm, O’Neal, Pomaria, SllverstreeL Smyrna, St. Phillips, Tranwood, Vaughnville. Members of the above clubs join together to form the County Council of Farm Women and from this group we have the fol lowing officers: President, Mrs. W. C. Koon. 1st Vice President, Mrs. Henry Parr. 2nd Vice PresidenL Mrs. Tyru* Sean. Secretary, Mrs. J. H. Long. Treasurer, Mrs. Oscar Jolly. Our county council officers havo the pleasure of having two new officers serve them this year. She takes a very active part in all af fairs of community and church, being a member of the Hopewell Methodist church. She is the mother of three children. After the resignation of Mrs. Barbara G. Brown as ,Assistant Home Agent, Mrs. Margaret R. Coleman of Saluda came to work with us. She finished Ersklne col* lege and has served as assistant Home Agent in Aiken and' Home Agent in Saluda. She lives on a farm and has two girls. Just as we have some new offi oers, we have same outgoing fleers. They are: Mis. W. Hughes, who has served as First Vice president of her Council. Mm Hughes was past secretory of her club for 1 year and is now the present secretory. She served as. a leader from her club for 1 year,, she also served as first Vice President of the County Council for two years. She too* is very active in her .community, being a member of the Grange and serv ing as its secretary. She is also very active in the work of the Eb* enezer Methodist church which she attends with her husband and child., Mrs. Raymond Nichols is the outgoing Treasurer of the County Council. ' All officers in the County coun cil are not elected the some year, one half being elected one year and the otl^er half the following year to order that at no time will there be a complete set of new officers. Mrs. Ryan Graham, Mrs. A. N. Crosaon and Mrs. T. P. Crooks are the able directors for the County Council of Farm Women, always on hand to aid and assist in the planning of each years’ work. The State project for the Coun cil of Farm Women this year has been an interesting one.
