This change of re porting to once every two weeks was made necessary by the recent heavy cut in the budget for op erating the South Carolina Em ployment Security Agency. There has been no change in the amount of benefits to be paid to a claimant. The amount of un employment compensation paid to a claimant is based on the amount of wages earned by the claimant during the period used for com puting his benefits. The maximum weekly amount of unemployment compensation is $20.00. When a claimant who is eligible for the maximum amount of benefits files his claim for a two weeks period, his check will be written for $40. A worker who becomes unem ployed should report to his local employment service office to file his initial claim for benefits as soon as possible after his separa tion from work. When this claim is filed, the claimant will be In structed to return in two weeks to file his continued claim. There will be no change in the present requirement that Claim ants answer local employment of fice call-in requests for job re ferrals. Prompt response to call- in cards will continue to be a maj or factor in determining future eligibility for benefit payments, the Commission emphasized. The niembers of the South Caro lina Employment Security Com mission are A. J. Hatfield, Chair man, Ed H. Tatum and Robert S- Galloway. Miss Dawkins To Wed Mr. Hunt Mr. and Mrs. Ben F.
