WILLIAM MCLEOD, SUMTER William Henry McLeod, 40, died at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital Saturday morning after a long illness. He was married to Miss Angie Stoudemire of Sumter, who died in March of 1946. At the time of his death he was residing in Newberry with his son, William H. McLeod, Jr, who is a student at Newberry Col lege. Funeral services were held lit the gravefide in Sumter cemetery last Sunday afternoon by the Jlev J. E. Roof, pastor of St. James Lutheran church in Sumter. Children—12c SUNDAY GATHERING Mrs. C. C. Hutto, C. C, Jr, and Mary Lee were Sunday guests in the home of Mrs. Hutto’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. She has been spending the past two months in the home of her niece, Mrs. John T. Norris and family on Calhoun street. MR. AND MRS. JACK TAYLOR, who were married on September 13 in Gastonia, N. C, returned to Newberry Saturday and are now making their home in one of the Margaret Apartments on John stone street. B. W. WEST PASSES IN INDIANA CITY B. W. West, about 80 years of age, died at his home in Terre Haute, Indiana, last Friday after noon and funeral services were held Saturday. Mr. West was ac tive in insurance business until his retirement a few years ago. He was a brother of the late J. H. and Charlie M. West of Newberry and a half-brother of Mrs. B. W. Yates, Mrs. Chris Kaufmann and Mrs. Clem I. Youmans of Newberry. Mr. West is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. William McCammack, also of Terre Haute. HALF-SISTER OF MRS. CALDWELL DIES IN LAURENS Mrs. Ella Mae Roberts Self, 44, half-sister of Mrs. Edith Caldwell of this city, died at her home in Wattsville last Friday night follow ing four years of declining health and a critical illness of two weeks.
