May 29 at eight o'clock in the Pomaria Lutheran church, Miss Elizabeth Pinner Koon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Koon of Pomaria, be came the bride of John Self Tim merman, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Timmerman of Edgefield. The Rev. M. T. Cullum, pastor, per formed the double ring ceremony in the presence of a large as semble of relatives and friends. The church was decorated with Oregon fern, magnolia, baskets of white gladioli and carnations and white lighted candles in silver candelabra. The family pews were marked with net and fever few. Mrs. C. E. Long of Pomaria, pianist: Mrs. Whit Gilliam, Green ville, and Rev. R. L. Holroyd of Lexington, vocalist, furnished the wedding music. Mrs. Gilliam sang, “B e c a u s e” (d’Hardelot) and “Through the Years” (Youmans) and Rev. Holroyd sang “Sweetest Story Ever Told” and at the close of the ceremony “The Lord’s Prayer” (Malotte). The Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin was used for the processional, and "Wedd ing March from Midsummer Night’s Dream” (Mendelsohnn) for the recessional. The ushers were: Dr. Wayne C. Brady, Newport, Rhode Island, brother-in-law of the bride; RufUs Bradberry, Abberville; Jack Gar rett, Edgefield; William Rauton, Ridge Springs; James Atkinson, Edgefield and Henry Judy, Orangeburg, brother-in-law of the bridegroom. Messers Rauton and Bradberry also lighted the cand les. Mrs. Wayne C. Brady, of New port, Rhode Island, sister of the bride was matron of honor. She wore an orchid nylon net dress over taffeta with shirred basque (continued on page eight) John Bedenbaugh Awarded Lutheran College Scholarship For Next Year H mmm • * i v *?,, I ■ Stew- John Holcombe Bedenbaugh, a son of Prof, and Mrs. Holland Bedenbaugh of Landrum, wqs the winner of the Lutheran Brother hood Scholarship Award of $300.00 at Newberry College for the ses sion of 1952-53. Mr. Bedenbaugh is a rising senior and will serve as Editor of the college yearbook, “The Newberrian.” He has been promi nent in the religious organizations on the campus, the Student Chris tian Association and the Lutheran Student Association. He has serv ed on the staff of The Indian, the college newspaper.
