Cannon, former ly of Newwberry, is undergoing a 2-week Naval Reserve training program with the Construction Battalion at the U. S. Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, 111. Cannon, who graduated from Berkeley High School and Rice Business College, is employed by the U.S. Naval Ship yard, North Charleston. He is a member of Naval Reserve Construction Battalion Co. V6-3 at the Naval Base. The CB’s receiving training in operating heavy construction equipment, building camp sights, constructing advanced landing facilities. Kinard of Newberry College attended the annual meeting of the Florida Synod of the United Lutheran Church in America, Tuesday and Wednesday, May 6th and 7th. The meeting was held at St. Lake’s Lutheran Church in Lake City, Florida. At the meeting Doctor Kinard spoke in behalf of New berry College, which is one of the institutions of the Church supported by the Florida Synod.
