When Jesus, in the up per room, promised that he would go to prepare a place for the dis ciples and said to them that they knew where he was going, and the way, Thomas said: "Lord, we know not whither thou goest; how knopr we the way?" Tien, in the eve ning of the Resurrection, when the disciples told Thomas, who had been absent, that Jesus had ap peared unto them, he stoutly af firmed that he would not believe un less he could thrust his finger and his hand into the wounds of Cal vary. Yet this man was so devoted to Jesus that when the Lord declared that he would go into Judaea, to the grave of Lazarus, it was Thom as who said to the other disciples: ‘Let us also go, that we may die with him.” Eight days after the Resurrection, when Jesus appeared a second time to the assembled dis ciples, and invited Thomas to touch the wounds of Calvary, there is no evidence that he paused to accept the invitation. In the presence of the living Lord there was no need to test the proofs of his death. And he said unto Jesus: "My Lord and my God.” But Thomas asked for die lowest order of proof, that of the senses. He asked to see that he might be lieve. But in the presence of the Lord, he learned that believing is seeing. Spiritual things are spirit ually discerned. State Renews 4-H Clothing And Dress Revue Programs 4-H girls, most of wnom live on farms and in villages, have set ^ new record in clothing work at home that doubtless will amaze their city cousins. Notwithstanding that many of the girls help cook, launder, do housework and other chores, as well as attend school, 650,000 of them taking part in the National 4-H Clothing Achievement pro gram made or repaired 2 1-4 mil lion garments for themselves and their families last year! In a closely related activity, the National 4-H Dress Revue pro gram, more than 220,000 girls modeled garments—ranging from school outfits to formal gowns— they had made as being the ;most becoming to their type and most expressive of their personality. Both the 4-H Clothing Achieve ment and Dress Revue programs are being conducted in this and every other State for 1962, under the direction of the Cooperative Extension Service. In the pro grams, girls learn to plan, make and care for garments suitable for work, school and social occasions, as well as to dress appropriately, becomingly and healthfully in keeping with a well-planned fam ily budget. In Clothing Achieve ment special emphasis is given tq techniques of clothing construc tion, tailoring and fitting. Through Dr. Heisey Charter Speaker For Lions Club Of Jackson The demand for registered pharmacists in South Carolina ex ceeds the supply and employ ment prospects for June gradu ates in pharmacy are bright. Dean E. T. Motley of the University of South Carolina school of phar macy said today. Approximately 35 students will receive the bachelor of science degree In pharmacy from the uni versity this year, and several re quests for their services are re ceived each week from employers, Dean iMotley said. An estimated 4,400 students will be graduated from the nation’s pharmacy; schools, and according to fore- j casts made by the American Pharmaceutical association, their prospects of finding rewarding employment are bright. Normally, due to retirement and death, 3,000 vacancies oc cur in the profession annually'. However, other factors are now adding to the demand for phar macists. Those include the in crease in the number of pre scriptions per person, reduction of working hours with no com parable reduction in store hours, and an increase in the number of retail stores. In manufactur ing, increased employment of pharmacists as representatives calling on physicians is adding a new channel of employment. Re search and medical progress, some of it stemming directly from the atomic energy program, will also influence etnployment of pharmacists by manufacturers, Dean Motley said. Further opportunities for young graduates are to be found in the hospitals being built and others AUDITOR ABRAMS’ MOTHER UNDERGOES OPERATION * (Mrs. Verna Dominick, mother of Auditor Pinckney N.
