Jas. E. Boozer
New Towerman
At Prosperity
James Elmer Boozer, Route 2,
Prosperity, has been appointed
Prosperity Towerman effective
April 1, according to E. L. Middle-
swart, district forester of New
berry. (Mr. Boozer will fill the
vacancy left by Mrs. Grace Boozer
Taylor’s resignation.
Mr. Boozer is a native of that
section of Newberry County and
is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur
Boozer. ■ He completed high
school at O’Neal High School and
has been farming since, with the
exception of 3 years spent in the
Army during World War II. Mr.
Boozer is married to the former
Ruth Frick and has 3 children.
Prosperity Tower is one of 2
State-owned fire towers in New
berry County. These towermen
are key servants to all land-
ow’ners in the county. They are
on the alert during bad fire
weather to make prompt report
on wild woods fires. Assistance
in actual suppressing the fire is
given the landowner by the Coun
ty Ranger and Wardens.
The recent heavy rains have
held fire occurrence down for
the past few weeks, however, high
winds will soon dry out the
woods so wild fires will do great
damage. Everyone is urged to
be careful with fire and prevent
this useless loss.
