PATRICK RETURNS TO SWANNANOA Mrs. Azilee Patrick has return ed to her teaching of Bible and Religious Education at Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, N. C., after her summer vaca tion. Mrs. Patrick took a three- week’s course in Bible, in New York this summer, prior to spend ing a week with her son. Rev. Louis Patrick and family in Char lotte, N. C., she also spent a couple of weekks here with her mother, Mrs. H. L. Parr, and sister and brother, Mrs. Ralph Baker and C. B. Parr. Robertson and three children, Doris, Mary and Billy, returned to their home In Newberry over the weekend after a ten day vacation trip at DaVtona Beach, Florida. Mrs. M. L. Long of Saluda, and her daughter, Mrs. Gary Coleman of Columbia, were busi ness visitors in Newberry Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Ellerbe MiUen (Patsy Lominick) have moved to Newberry and are now making their home on Caldwell street in the house formerly occupied by the Hugh Shannons. Mr. and Mrs. Miler, before coming to New berry made their home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lominick in the Mt. Bethel Germany community. Dr. M. R. Plaxico, supply pastor of Kings Creek ARP Church, has returned from his vacation, and will preach at King’s Creek church Sunday. He will be ac- compained 1 to Newberry by his wife. ^ Rev. Louis Patrick, grandson of Mrs. H. L. Parr, has returned to Charlotte, N. C., after taking six week’s post graduate work in New Yook. Reverend Patrick is pastor of the First A.R.P. Church In Charlotte. • Mrs. Mamie Payne of Mont gomery, Ala., spent last week In the home of Mrs. W. O. Miller on Johnstone street. The Whitners have returned to their home on College street ex tension after spending fbe sum mer at their summer home on the Isle of Palms. Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Lominack and Mrs. Mabel Mcllwain of Co lumbia, left today for a two week’s vacation with Mrs. Mc- Ilwain’s son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W.-C. Mcllwain. Joe Q. Boland Died Tuesday Joe Quincey Boland, 78, died late Tuesday night at his resi dence in Pomaria. Mr. Boland was stricken with a heart at tack and lived only a short time. He was born and reared near Little Mountain, the son of the late James M. and Laura Koon Boland. For the past 40 years he had made his home at Po maria. He married the former Alice Shealy, who died a num ber of years ago. He was a mem ber of Pomaria Lutheran church. Funeral services were conduct ed Thursday from Mt. Tabor Lutheran church by his pastor, the Rev. M .T. Cullum, and the Rev. J. S. Wessing, pastor of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. In terment followed in the church cemetery. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. B. L. Bowers of Colum bia and Mrs. George Healy of Little Mountain; one brother, Baes Boland of Pomaria and a number of nieces and nephews. Henry J. Kinard Passed Monday Henry Jefferson Kinard, passed away early Monc ing at his home near He had been in ill h< several yeors. Mr. Kinkrd was born &ni ed near Prosperity and was son of the late David B. and Mary iAnn Long Kinard. He a prominent farmer in the munity and was a devoted faithful member of Grace [ an church and was a for member of the church council. Funeral services were cc ed Tuesday afternoon from the residence by his pastor. Rev. Le- Grande Mayer, Dr. J. B. Harmai and Dr. Karl Kinard. Interment followed In the Prosperity ceme tery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sara Kitty Cook Kinard, and a number of nieces and nephews. Jacobs of Decatur, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. James Arthur Bedenbaugh and two children, Jimmy and Ann, of Laurens. On Sunday, Mrs. Pugh had all of her chil dren and their families with her. In addition to her weekend guests present on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Pugh of Columbus, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pugh and their children of Orchard Park, N. Y. Mr. and Mrs. Gurdon W. Counts and their two sons, Gurdon Wright Jr. and Dicky; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Epting and Mr. and Mrs. Olin Epting and their chil dren went to Pacolet Sunday as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Voight Epting. Miss Susan Amick of Lexing ton is visiting her cousin, Miss Anne Hendrix. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. A.
