The French star, Corinne Cal-

Danny Kay accent.
“When I start this picture/’

I talk like a French girl and
everybody, they say what a cute
accent I have.
“But now, after working for
two months with Danny who is
a Frenchman in this picture, I
find myself picking up the way
he talks/’
The picture is “On the Riviera/

mimic, put together an accent
that is a little French, a little
Kaye and a little double talk.

ty.
Billy’s steer, which he carried
as a 4-H club project, was bred
by Mr. J. Ellerbe Sease. Out of
the thirty five animals in the
junior show, Billy placed second
and his steer was one of the 5
which graded U. S. Prime and
were awarded purple ribbons by
the judges.
The 5 prime steers were pur
chased by Colonal Stores for 50
cents per pound, and the buyers
promised to send Billy’s steer to
the Little Star Store in New
berry. It will probable be on sale
next week.
The Columbia Fat Stock Show

Clubs and FFA Chapters are eli

partment and all farmers are eli

NEWBERRY 4-H TIMBER
THINNING CONTEST WINNERS
Bobby Morse a fifteen year old
boy of the Pomaria 4-H Club has
Just been declared winner of the
4-H Timber Thinning Contest
conducted in the county during
the past year by Walter A. Ridge
way, Assistant County Agent.
Bobby is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. J. W. Morse of Rt. 1, Po
maria, he is in the tenth grade
and has been in club work for
the past five years. For his pro
ject he selected an acre 16 years
old loblolly pines * and removed
the crowded, crooked and diseas
ed trees and left the better trees
with room to grow. Approximate
ly four cords of wood were cut
from the area and a full stand
of good quality trees were left.
Bobby’s uncle helped with the
cutting in return for Bobby’s
assistance in the uncle’s woods.
First prize for the county was a
Parker “51” pen and pencil set
and $5.00 in cash.
Paul Richardson of the Po
maria Club cut with the help of
the colored boys on the farm 3%
cords of pulpwood from his one
acre plot and plans to continue
this work until all of the wood
lands have been thinned.
Paul will receive $6.00 in cash
plus an all* purpose pocket knife.
Other cash winners were Charles
Cromer of the Longlane Club and
Moffett Fant, Jr. of the Silver-
street Club.
“The purpose of the project,”
says Mr. Ridgeway, “Is to teach
young folks how to care for trees
and how to get the best cash re
turns from them over the years.
The contest has been conducted
during the past six years in New
berry county and we know we
have made some headway in
teaching young folks the value
of forests”.
Prizes were awarded by the

Judging was done by P. B. Exell,
