TENNESSEE SOLDIER GETS 30-YEARS BURTONWOOD, Eng., Sept. 6 —-A U. S. Army courtmartial to day sentenced a young Tennessee corporal to 30 years at hard lab or for assaulting a 16-year-old English chorus girl aboard a train June 15. CpJ. Robert R. Jones, 22, of Wartburg, Tenn. was found guilty of attacking the girl, a dancer in a sideshow called “Beauty and the Beast.’’ Jones, attached to the 69th medical depot here, told the fol lowing story at his trial: . He met the dancer at the en trance to the railroad station at Liverpool the night of June 15. She followed him into an ampty first-class compartment, although she had only a third-class ticket. She accepted a cigarette and chewing gum from him, and did not object when he started “necking.” She took off her skirt and did a dance for him. The girl admitted accepting the gum and cigarettes, but denied removing her skirt. The defense said the girl had wanted to be picked up and pointed out that no scratches had been found on Jones to in dicate any resistance on her part. Earlier in the trial a civilian barber testified that he had in vited Jones to his home in Manchester and found him to be a “bashful boy.” DRIVE-IN THEATRE FRIDAY and SATURDAY GRAND CANYON TRAIL Roy Rogers and Trigger In Color A Free 8x10 colored Picture of Roy Rogers will be given to every Boy and Girl that attends Friday or Saturday night shows.
