Preslar of Clinton visited Mrs. A. B. Hunt and Mrs. Joe Spotts Sun day. W. E. Hancock has returned from a two weeks’ visit with his brother in Trilby, Fla. Mrs. A. K. Epting has re turned home from a visit in the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reagin in Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Fellers visited friends in Charlotte the first of last week. Clyde Bedenbaugh of Man ning spent the weekend in Prosperity. Mrs. Bedenbaugh who has been recuperating from an operation in the home of her mother, Mrs. J. A. Counts, re turned home with Mr. Beden baugh. Mrs. S. C. Brissie and her two sons, Robert and George of Woodruff spent Friday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Mills. Weekend guests of Rev. J. B. Harman, D.D., and Mrs. Har man were Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Symbol of their growth is the seed, different on each tree, yet the same in life-beginning power. A seed dropped by a forest tree begins a long and important journey into our future. Nurtured by the for est soil, it sprouts as a seedling tree. Given room to grow—if not crowded by mature trees ripe for use—it will grow rapidly. Protected from fire and other destruc tive agencies, it has a commercial value in 15 to 30 years. Permitted to reach an age of 50 to 75 years, it may become a high-quality commercial tree. LUTHERAN SYNOD The Piedmont Conference df the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of South Carolina set January 29th for CHEY Rally at Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville. The program will begin at 3:30 p.m. with Devotions by Rev. A. W. Ballentine of Spartan burg. “Why CHEY? General Bockground. Church Action,” will be discussed by Rev. Charles J. Shealy, D.D. of Spar tanburg. Hon. Butler B. Hare, Lli.D. of Salude will present “The Needs of Our College and Seminary.” The Newberry Col lege Singers, an a capella choir of 50 voices under the direction of Prof. Milton Moore, will ren der a twenty minute program of music. “The CHEY Work shop” will be conducted * by Rev. F. W. Brandt, D.D., Syn odical Director for CHEY, and pastor of St. Barnabas Lutheran Church of Charleston. At 6:30 p.m. the CHEY Sup per will be served by the ladies of Trinity Church. Doctor Brandt will continue the work shop procedure to be followed by short talks by Mr. Roberf Paul Counts from Newberry College and Mr. Douglas Fritz frpm the Semniary on “As the Students See It.” Rev. William B. Schaeffer, Pastor of St. Mi chael’s in Greenville, will high light the Rally with an inspira tional address “We Can Do It!” Rev. Alton C.
