THE NEWBERRY JUN FRIDAY, JUNE 11, 194 Dr. and Mrs. E. D. Kerr vi sited Frank Z. Wilson last week at the Memorial Hospital, Charlotte, N. C., where Mr. Wilson underwent an operation recently. Mrs. Frank Z. Wilson was taken to the Columbia hos pital last week after breaking a hip in a fall. Miss Ella Brazelle of Colum bia is spending awhile with Miss Colie Murphy at her home in Pomaria Route 3. WATKINS In announcing my candidacy for the office of Supervisor of Newberry county, I think that it be only fair to me and the good people of the county that I make a simple statement of a few facts through the press. I was bom and reared in the Chappells commiunity. a son of Mrs. Annie L. Day Watkins and the late J&mes L. Watkins. I have lived in this comlmunity for the greater part of my 43 years engaged in farming and the mercantile business. I am mar ried and have two small daugh ters. who, together with me live close by my widowed mo ther. I finished high school and have had two years at Clemeon College. I have never offered for any public office before and am asking for the job on the merits of the man. For approximately five years prior to January 1, 1948 I was employed by the Extension Ser vice of Clemson College in the County Agents’ office at New berry. In this capacity I had occasions to visit time and again every section of Newberry coun ty as my work was with farm people. I have in mind a very defi nite program for this important office. A program that I am sure will permit better coop eration and understanding be tween everyone concernd and surely we are all concerned be cause this department of our county Government certainly reaches into every home of the county. I shall discuss these practices and reforms in detail through the press and by per sonal contact as the campaign progresses. Ace W.
