Mr. and Mrs. James Hunt and their two daughters, Janet and Joanne of Spartanburg are spending this week with his mother, Mrs. A. B. Hunt. Harold Bedenbaugh, who was burned last week while he was pouring gasoline in the carbure tor of his car, is a patient in the Veterans hospital in Columbia and is improving slowly. Visit ing him Sunday were his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Dhent Bedenbaugh, Miss Anne Bedenbaugh, and Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Mills. Mrs. S. C. Brissie and two sons, Robert and George of Woodruff, are spending the week with her parents, Mir. and Mrs. W. L. Mills. Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Wyche and family. Mrs. Jacob S. Wheeler spent last week with her daughter, Mrs. Murray Hughes, Jr. and family in Lancaster. Margaret, and Miss Ellen Wheeler. The members of the eighth grade of the Prosperity school are on an educational tour to Charleston and other points of interest near there Friday and Saturday. Chaperoning the group are G. L. Halfacre, one of the home room teachers, Mrs. Richard Brown and Mrs. Elbert Shealy. The trip was planned by G. D. Brown of the State Department of education, who is also with the group. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Barnes visited their son, Rudolph C. Barnes and family in Columbia Sunday. They took in the gar dens of Columbia in the after noon and heard the Wofford glee club Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Kinard. Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Matthews of Columbia spent Sunday with her parents, Rev. and Mrs. J. B. Harman. Rev. J. B. Harman, D. D., went to Johnston last Thursday to assist in Mr. Hendrix Rawls’ funeral at Mt. Cavalry church. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Montjoy and their three children were guests of her parents in Cayce last weekend. Miss Elizabeth Shealy is at tending the Southern States Pardon Parole and Prison con ference in Nashville, Tenn., this week. Miss Edith Dill was called to her home in Landrum Saturday because of the death of her uncle. Miss Hazel Hawkins of Colum bia is spending a two weeks’ vacation with her father, T. C. Hawkins and family. HUMPHRIES-FORCE The West End Baptist church was the scene of the wedding of Miss Helen Rae Force and Wil bur A. Humphries on Easter Sunday, March 28, at 5:00 p.m. Rev H. W. Long, pastor of the bride, officiated, using the dou ble ring ceremony. A number of relatives and friends witness ed the service. Traditional wedding decora tions were used in the church. The white cathedral tapers were lighted by Charlie A Force, Jr., brother of the bride, and Ralph E. Cooper, Jr., of Columbia, ne phew of the bridegroom, who were ushers. Mrs. C. B. Matthews, organist, and Miss Anne Matthews, vocal ist. rendered a program of nup tial music. Mrs. Matthews play ed “Ave Maria,” “Night and Day,” and “Prelude in A Major.’’ Miss Mlatthews sang “Always” and “I Love You Truly.” During the ceremony, the pianist ren dered “Liebestraum.” Miss Mat thews sang ‘The Lord’s Prayer” as a benediction. Wilson B Leavell was the groom’s best man. Miss Marjorie Force was her sister’s maid of honor and only attendant. She wore a blue gabardine suit with white and black accessories. Her corsage was of pink carnations. The bride was given in mar riage by her father, Charlie A. Force, Sr. She was charmingly attired in a two piece suit of winter white wool, with which she wore brown accessories. She oarried a satin covered Bible topped with a white orchid, showered with white ribbon and fern. Mrs. Humphries is the attrac tive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie A. Force of Newberry. She is a graduate of Saluda high school, and has been em ployed with the Newberry Life and Health Insurance company. Mr. Humphries, the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Humphries, Sr., is a graduate of Newberry high school. He served two years ih the U S. Navy and since his discharge, has been employ ed by W. E. Turner, jeweler, where he held a position prior to his entry in the service. Mr. and Mrs. Humphries are making their home with his pa rents on Cline street.
