Forest Ser vice color film on woods fires left Newberry last Friday after shooting the final scenes. The movie makers praised the fine cooperation extended to them by all Newberry and Rich land county people without whose help many of the scenes would have been impossible. The assistance of the personnel of the Fairfield Forest Products Co., and especially E. A. Allenach enabled the crew to- shoot a se ries of very difficult burning scenes. Film Director Richard H. Ly- ford and Cameraman George H. Ortlieb left for Washington, D. C.. sporting that weather-beaten look and very noticeable sun tans in spite of the abundant clouds and rains that accompan ied their six-week stay in New berry. In one of the most recent scenes shot. Miss Jane Winn, Asst. County home demonstra tion agent, portrayed a scene similar to that experienced by Mrs. Alice Knight of Union Rt. No. 3, who in 1946 single-hand edly fought a wild fire on a Sumter National Forest tree plantation for three hours be fore help came. Mr. and Mrs. James Clary also visited Mrs. Clary’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Bryson. Trade With ... H. G. Murrah Located on College Street Extension Smoked Bacon 49c lb.
