Martin, commanding officel of the Co- lumbit sub-station, said today. The reopening ot negro enlist ments occured when the percen tage of negro perso nnel fell be low that authorized.. The Commanding officer states that negro applican ts will have their choice of enliisting in the Army Air Forces unassigned or in the Regular Araiy unassign ed. Those who successfully meet the mental standards as white applicants can enlist fo. periods of two, three, four or five years, TINSLEY REENLISTS IN MARINE CORPS Hubert Tinsley of Newberry, route 3, recently reenlisted in the U. S. Marine corps for a period of four years. He holds the rank of master sergeant. Sgt. Tinsley, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Tinsley, was an offi cer in the Marine Corps prior to his re-enlistment. He entered the Marine Corps in March 1942, received a second lieutenant commission in May, 1945, and was promoted to the rank of first lieutenant on April 2, 1947. Tinsley served as a pilot with VMF Squadron 113 of the Sec ond Marine Air Wing at Cherry Point, N. ,C. Sgt.
