Kibler and Sadie visited Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Hughes in Columbia Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Boland and family were business visitors In Columbia Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Martin and Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Boland were visitors in Columbia Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Willis of Co lumbia were recent guests of Mrs. R. B. Bartley and Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Dickert. Mr. and Mrs. W. F. McCarty of Chapin visited Mrs. S. G. Banks and family Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Elwell Bundrick and family spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Jones. Mrs. Gertrude Whitmire and Do ris, spent the past weekend in Gastonia, N. C., with Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Thomas and family. Pvt. Ray Layton has returned to Cherry Point, N. C., after spending a 15-day furlough with his mother, Mrs. Gladys Layton. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Duckett and Phillip and Miss Jeanette Holson- back of Goldville spent Sunday in Greenwood. Mrs. L. E. Gatlin and daughter, Audrey, visited in Columbia Satur day. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Bickley have returned to California after visiting Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Bickley, and other rela tives here. Mr. Bickley’s three daughters, Mary, Helen and Janice, returned to California with them to make their future home. They have been making their home with Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Smith for a number of years. Mr. Bickley, who is serving in the Navy, is stationed in California. Birthday Party Jon McConnell celebrated his seventh birthday with a party on Monday afternoon, January 13 at 3:30 o’clock. After many games were enjoyed the guest were invited into the dining room where they enjoyed the white birthday cake with green candles; from which hung green and white streamers, at the end of each streamer there was a green hat for each guest.
