Freeman-Kinney Miss Ellen Kinney and Mr. David Freeman of Boston, Mass., were united in marriage on Saturday at temoon, November 30, 1946, at 4 o’clock in the Hunt Memorial Bap tist church, in a lovely ceremony. The vows were spoken before : background of lace fern and pain leaves with a center arrangement o white chrysanthemums flanked b; seven-branched candelabra holdin/ cathedral tapers. A program of nuptial music wa rendered by Miss Lois Hughes pianist, of Greenwood and Mrs. Ra' Williams, soloist, of Newberr; sang, “O Promise Me”. Woodrow Kinney and Henry Kinney, brothers of the bride, served as ushers and lighted the candles. Miss Edna Thompson of Seneca, was the bride’s only attendant. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, William D. Kin ney cf Newberry. She was becom ingly attired in a slate blue suit with Navy cacessories. Her corsage .vas a lavendar orchid and her only ornament was a broach, gift of the oride-groom. The groom had as his best man lis brother, Arthur Freeman of doston. Mass. Mrs. Kinney, mother of the bride, wore a lovely black dress and a corsage of pink carnations. After the ceremony, the bride’s mother entertained at a reception in her home. Mrs. Freeman is the daughter of Mrs. Ossie Miller Kinney and the late William H. Kinney. She is a graduate of Newberry College and Jrady Hospital of Atlctnta, Ga. She ;erved in the United States Army or 18 months, 12 months of which vas overseas duty, in the European theater. Mr. Freeman holds a responsible losition in Boston, Mass. He serv 'd in the United States Army for 4 /ears, 2 years of which was over- ,eas duty, in the European theater. After a short wedding trip to 'Jew York, they will make their lome in Boston, Mass. C. Mrs. Ola Nichols has returned to her home on College street after spending two months in Great Falls, Montana, with her granddaughter, Mrs. Eddy Staub. Miss Helen Goggins of Greenwood spent the weekend in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Goggins in -the Hartford community. Miss Marion Fellers, a member of the Charlotte, N. C. school fac ulty spent the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Fellers on College street. Miss Sallie Lee Cromer, member of the Walterboro school faculty spent the Thanksgiving holiday- here in the home of Mrs. R. G. Car- roll on Glenn street. Timmerman of Tarboro, N. C. Turkey Dinner The members of Lewis Methodist church gave a Turkey dinner on Thanksgiving evening at 7 o’clock for the service men and women of the church. , A devotional services was held before the dinner with Rev. O. H. Hatchett of Cayce, a former pastor of the church, as the principal speaker. After the devotional service they retired to the basement of the •hurch where they enjoyed a boun tiful turkey' dinner with all the trimmings. The tables were beautifully de corated with autumn leaves, cedar and candles. Rev. B. H. Harvey, pastor of Lewis church acted as toastmaster, and Rev. C. W. Brockwell of Green wood circuit, and a former pastor of the Newberry circuit, was the after-dinner speaker. During the evening appropriate music was softly played. The dinner was attended by 47 ex-service men, two service men, and one ex-service woman. Mrs. E. M. Wood was in charge of the dinner. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thomas and children of Gastonia, N. C., visited Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Spratt Sunday. Mrs. Mabel Morse of Long Lane spent Thanksgiving with Mrs. Vic toria Goings. Prof, and Mrs. J. W. Wood and baby of Monticello visited Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Wood and Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Bouknight during Thanksgiv ing. Mrs. Jack Dominick and baby spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Philips. Mi. and Mrs. James Ringer spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Powell and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ringer of Pomaria. Prof. Harris McConnell of Harris, N. C., visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. McConnell Thanksgiv ing. Mrs. S. Maddox of Columbia vis ited Mr. and Mrs. F. H. McConnell recently. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Graham of Monticello, spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Bouknight. Mrs. Lucile Suber Cromer and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Smith, visited Mr. and Mrs. Wert Jennings during the Thanksgiving holidays. Miss Peggy Wood of Spartanburg Junior College and Mrs. Herman W. Thomas of Landrum visited Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Wood recently. Mrs. E. A. Darby and children accompanied by Miss Dorothy Hamilton of Lexington spent the Thanksgiving holidays with Mrs. Herman W. Thomas and Mr .and Mrs. E .E. Lewallen of Landrum. Miss Martha Jennings and Bryant Jennings visited Mrs. Lucile Crom er of Florence recently.
