The observant animal had watched Joe for many hours while he wig wagged messages with flags. One day toe took his dog out to look for birds. They were in a broken, hilly portion of the state, in a section sparsely covered with patches of underbrush and small pine trees. The dog was about 800 feet in front of his master, up on the brow of a small hillock, when suddenly he stopped and stuck his tail straight up in the air. Then’his tail began to jerk first one way and then the other. It was trans mitting a message! Joe watched breathlessly, while the sagacious animal wigwagged: “Joe — have you — got — any — heavy — ammunition? Unless— you — have — get — the — heck— out — of — here.
