morning, after taking a three
months’ course at Nashville School
of Social Work, in Nashville, Tenn.
The Nashville School of Social Work
is affiliated with Peabody and Van
derbilt colleges.
Miss Martha Ann Nance of Tam
pa, Fla., arrived Saturday to spend
a while in the home of her cousin,
Mrs. C. B. Parr and Mr. Parr in the
county. Miss Nance will be joined
here by her sister, Miss Mary Eliza
beth Nance, a student at the Uni
versity of S. C., Columbia, for a
visit before she returns to her home
i n Flroida.

after which they will accompany
him back to Alabama.

Cullough is spending this week in
Spartanburg with his grandparents,

their home in Georgia Monday, af

Mr. and Mrs. T. Duane Price
(Nell Davis) are leaving Oak Ridge,
Tenn., where they have made their
home during the war, for New York
City where Mr. Price will begin
graduate study in bio-chemistry at
the College of Physicians and Sur
geons of Columbia university. Mr.
and Mrs. Price are planning to take
a vacation in Ypsilanti, Michigan
and Rochester, N. Y., before Mr.
Price reports to school in July.

home of his mother, Mrs. H. O.
Stone, between semesters at the

Frank Efird Kinard, a member of
the Senior class of Newberry Col
lege, is in the Moore Clinic in Co
lumbia, recuperating from an opera
tion. He expects to return home
early next w T eek and to continue his
studies jn the summer session.

days’ visit here in the home of her

Mrs. DeViese home for an extended
visit.
Mrs. T. C. Smoak accompanied

Smoak, a member of the Branchville
school faculty, arrived in the city
Monday to spend a few days. Miss
Smoak has enrolled for the summer
school at Newbeiry College. Mrs.
Smoak will remain for a few days
visit in the home of Mrs. H. L. Parr

spent a few days recently in Oak

Association which was held at the
Wade Hampton hotel in Columbia,
Tuesday through Thursday of this

Richard, seven months, have joined
Dr. Katzberg in Newberry and they
are now making their home at 1539

Mill Saturday afternoon at 4:45 at
Setzler Field, Nev/berry College.

Monday evening, May 27, Misses
Doris Mayer and Virginia Senn
were hostesses at a bridge party at
the home of the former in honor of
Miss Margaret Sligh, bride-elect.
Tables were set for twelve. Pastel
larkspur and shasta diasies decorat
ed the rooms, and the honoree’s
chair was marked with a corsage of
white gladioli. Bridge and
prizes were won by Mrs. Virgil
Ruff.
After cards were laid away, a de
licious salad course was served and
the honor guest was showered with
many lovely and useful gifts.
