LOMINACK HARDWARE ey’s FLAT -- il'ife..'? ** •? •• IK'' MITCHELL-SHEALY On Thursday evening, January 10th, at eight o’clock in the First Baptist church of Newberry, Miss Frances Elizabeth Mitchell and Lu ther Branders Shealy were married by the Rev. J. Aubrey Estes, pastor of the bride, in the presence of a large assemblage of relatives and friends. The double ring ritual was used in the ceremony. The church was effectively decor- atd with southern smilax and lovely groupings of glossy southern magno lia grandiflora leaves creating a lovely altar background against draperies of white. Seven-branched candelabra in graduated heights held tall white candles which were used in lighting the altar and choir loff. And tall floor baskets filled with White glads and chrysanthemums gave added beauty to the scene. Mrs. J. W. Dominick of Philadel phia, Pa., halfsister of the bride groom, organist, played the wedding marches and the nuptial music, and Mrs. J. P. Moon, pianist and Miss Vivian Ellis, organist, rendered a lovely duet. Professor Milton W. Moore, of Newberry college music department sang two lovely solos. The bride’s attendants were her sister, Miss Mary Alice Mitchell, Who was maid-of-honor; Miss Cath erine Dickert of Columbia; Miss Eulalia Buford and Miss Sadye Jones of Newberry; Miss Rosemary Shea ly, sister of the bride groom, of Little Mountain, were the brides maids. They wore lovely gowns of white satin with bouffant net over skirts and carried bouquets of red gladioli bells showered with white satin ribbon. The maid of honor wore White jersey with modish side- draped skirt fitted bodice with long sleeves and carried red carnations. The junior groom was young Keith Tarper and they pro ceeded the bride who was attendd by her father, Patrick Bowers Mitchell, by whom she was given in marriage. The bride ,a pretty blonds, ' was picturesque in her bridal ‘ goWn of white duchess satin fashioned with fitted basque with sweetheart neck line embroidered with seeded pearls; long sleeves ending in Calla lily points, and p full length train. Her full length veil of bridal illusion was held to her head by a coronet of seed ed pearls and her only ornament was a necklace of matched pearls, gift of the bride-groom. Leavell, Dr. E. H. Moore and L. Hartwell Jordan, all of Newberry, and Dr. Claude Sease of Little Moun- -tain. Charles E.. Mitchell, brother of the bride, Carlton Matthews and T. E. Ademy of Little Mountain, and the Rev. James Lee Shealy, of New berry, were the groomsmen. Following the marriage a large reception was given by the bride’s parents in the reception rooms ’ of the church. The bride is the attractive young er daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrjck Bowers Mitchell (Mary Frances Suber) and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Suber, pio neer families of Newberry county. She was educated in Newberry schools and at Newbery colleeg; and since her graduation has held secre tarial positions in Danville, Va., At lanta, Ga., with the Fourth Service Command and now is at Fort Jack- son. The bridegroom, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer L. Shealy (Miss Dora Branders of Scotland, a world war bride) and received his education in Little Mountain schools, from Where he entered the U. S. ABRAMS HONORS RECENT BRIDE Miss Elizabeth Mitchell, bride of January 10th, was honor guest at a rook party given by Mrs. Pinckney N. Abrams at her home on Walnut street last Wednesday evening. The home was very attractive with decorations of gladioli, bridal fern and poinsetteas. The honoree’s place was designated by a lovely corsage. Gene Epting, nephew of Mrs. Abrams halted the progression by ringing a bell at which time a lovely gift was presented the honoree. High score prize was won by Miss Cather ine Dickert of Columbia, and low score fel to Mrs. J. M. Dominick of Pennsylvania. A tempting salad course with Russian tea was served by the host ess assisted by her sister, Mrs.. E. E. Epting. MRS. MOORE HONORS RECENT BRIDE WITH LUNCHEON Mrs. E. H. Moore was hostess to a lovely four course luncheon at her home in the county Tuesday, honor ing Miss Elizabeth Mitchell, recent bride. The dining room table, which was laid for 14 guests, was unusually at tractive with vari-colored flowers and bridal fern. The honoree’s place was marked with an attractive white corsage. Guests enjoying the luncheon be sides the bridal party was the mother of th bride-elect, Mrs. P. B. Mitchell, Mrs. J. W. Dominick and Mrs. Kratz of Philadelphia. The honor guest was presented, a beautiful gift by the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Summer, Jr., are now making their home in Columbia. Mr. Summer has entered the University of South Carolina, where he is taking a course in Elec trical Engineering. USHERS ENTERTAINED MEN OF WEDDING PARTY Ushers in the Mitchell-Shealy wed ding, which took place January 10th, Dr. E. H. Moore, James L. Leavell, Hart Jordon and Dr. J. C. Sease, en tertained the men of the wedding party with a steak supper at the Newbery Hotel Wednesday evening preceeding the rehersal. Covers were laid for sixteen guests, and red car nation buttoniers were used as place cards. The honoree was presented a gift by the hostesses. Mrs. Forrest Summer, who has been ill at her home near the city for the past two weeks, was reported today to be improving.
