FRIDAY, DECEMBER 10, 1943 envelope and addressed it and was rewarded with this benediction: “Thank you, boss, thank you. We’s aho God jjot good white folks.” Not much of a story perhaps but it gives weight to the words of that fellow who said that little acts of kindness makes all the world kin. Too, I might casually mention this to Saint Peter when (and if) I see him. STAY YOUR trigger finger until you hear me out on this, for I am about to tell you that Hitler is not alone responsible for this war! Statesmen whom we trusted to look out for us and protect us allowed this fiend .to build up a great war machine right under their eyes. They knew what he was about. They knew what Italy was about and likewise Japan, yet we the people did not hear the cry of “wolf” until the die was cast and men were dying. Everyone wants Hitler’s outfit crushed and it will be crushed but at the same time, our leaders should remember that their blunders are be ing rectified with human life and that the shortest route to the cessation of hostilities is the best route. I AM CONVINCED that the uncondi tional surrender 'policy of Church ill and Roosevelt is not good and I believe Stalin will see it that way. We. used deception and trickery in dealing with the French in North Africa and I see no reason why it should not be employed in the case of Germany. Any move which will not compromise our honor and which will save the lives of our boys should be employed. We entered into a conspiracy with disloyal elements of Viehv France army men in North Africa and won a great victory on the side of right. If we can trick the Germans into some sort of surrender and later double cross them, I can see nothing wrong in it. Mss Dot Ruff of Greenville visited over the weekend 1 in the home of her parents, Mn and Mrs. Charlie Ruff in the Mt. Bethel Garmany community.
