Kester, Tifuroday evening, Feb. 11 at 7:30, when Miss Gladys Hipp became the bride of Thomas A. Cor ley. Mrs. Corley is • daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hipp of Newberry and is employed by the Western Union Telegraph Co. Mr. Corley is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Corley also of Newberry. He was recently inducted into the army and is at pre sent located at Fort Jackson. The best wishes of their many friends go with this young couple. Mr. and Mrs. Walt H. Davis had as dinner guests Sunday at their home on Hunt street, Mrs. Davis’ sister, Mrs. R. M. Pettigrew of Ab- beville and her daughter, Mrs. R. L. Kennedy, of Marion, pleasantly remembered here as the former Miss Billie Pettigrew, while a student nurse at the hospital, also Mr. and Mrs. Holland Sligh and daughters. Misses Margaret and Susie, and Miss Allie Amick. Miss Janie Davis, a student of Nursing at the General hospital, Spartanburg, spent the past weekend in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. P. Davis. Mrs. O. O. Copeland and daughter, Mrs. Jim Todd, spent Sunday in Clin ton with Mrs. Copeland’s sister, Mrs. W. C. Shealy who has been ill for sometime. Mrs. F. W. King has returned to her home in Orlando, Florida, after a visit of several weeks with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Made Davis King. Mrs. King’s daughters, Lieut. Kathryn E. King, stationed at Fort Gordon Johnson, in Florida and Mrs. A. A. King of Jacksonville, came up for a short visit and to accompany her home. , Miss Virginia Anderson spent the past weekend in Charleston with her brother, Lieut. Roy Anderson., Grover A. Oswald, who is employ ed at the Glenn L. Martin Aircraft Plant, Baltimore, Md., spent last week with Mrs. Oswald and son, Ron ald.
