E.TURNER jeweler Because 1 need that quiet hour of reverent meditation when I can for- get the perplexities and the problems of the job at which I make my liv ing; Because I know that if I sincerely seek it, I shall find somewhere in the service something to inspire, encour age and strengthen; Because I am assured that there I shall be among the best people of my community; Because my attendance helps my pastor for the most effective sermons are not preached to empty pews; Because God in liis Word repeated ly calls upon His people to come to gether publicly to worship Him and if I refuse to do so any profession of Christianity I may make will be mere ly hollow, hypocritical pretension; Because my presence may prove a good example to others, particularly to my own two boys, whom I want to see grow up strong for the Church; Because I desire to express publi cly my faith in the one organization that stands uncompromisingly for law and order, good government and de cent living, honesty and square deal ing in business; a fortress of security against the forces of evil rampant in the land today; the firm foundation of the only kind of civilization that has ever been able to endure; Because I believe that the Church is the only certain safeguard of per sonal freedom for when God is re nounced liberty and democracy fall; Because I desire to be actively as sociated with a philosophy of living that has triumphed over the fiercest opposition that the ingenuity of devils and the skill of men could devise through the ages; Because the habitual non-church goer appears to me to be traveling a dreary and lonely path that at best can offer only a colorless existence and lead to a hopeless death and I do not choose to set my face toward such a barren wilderness; Because I believe that the Church is the one agency to which the forlorn and forsaken, when despised by all others, may turn for comfort and suc cor; the one saving influence which works constantly for the moral reno vation of humanity, the one single force which prevents the pall of a dark and dread desolation from en shrouding the human race; Because the men and women in whose character and integrity I have the greatest confidence go to church regularly; Because I just don’t believe that I am quite big enough to get along without God. REVIVAL SERVICES END A full house was present at the closing service of a revival at Mc Cullough Community Sunday night. Though a good attendance was had all week, Sunday night was highest in attendance. At the end of the meet ing four members of the Sunday school joined the church. These revival services were carried on by Rev. C. A. Calcote, pastor of Aveleigh Presbyterian church, and Rev. John Arthur Flannagan, pastor of Whitmire Presbyterian church. The song leader was Theron B. Bunting, of Waycross, Georgia.
