Prior to the Dowtin-Bates wed
ding in Troy July 13, the bride
who was formerly M^ss Hettie
Dowtin of McCormick and Wash
ington, D. C., was honored with
several parties during the week.
On Tuesday evening at 6 o’clock
Mrs. R. L. Dowtin gave a miscel-
aneous shower at her home at
Cotton Level. The bride’s place was
marked with a*, daisy corsage. A-
bout forty guests brought useful
gifts which were opened and dis
mayed by the bride. Punch and
cookies were served in the front
