In addition to the daily sacrifices, provided for six annual feasts. Most important was the Passov<er celebrating the birthright of the na tion. Similar tt> our own Fourth of July it had a patriotic signifi cance but was chiefly important be cause of the religfous ideas it con veyed. The blood of the piftchai lamb, standing for deliverance from sin, pointed to the work of Jesus add was closely associated with the institution of His supper. Fifty days after Passover was observed came the feast of Pente cost It was a feast of thanks giving for the.first fruitsv of the fields and it may be significant of \ the full fruits of the spirit The seventh Hebtew month was regarded as specially sacred and me first day was marked by the blearing of trumpets. This eras a reminder to the people of their priv ileges and may Symbolize the loy of religion. On the tenth day of the seventh month, the great day bf atonement the high priest entered'the holy of holies to make atonement for the people. An animal ceremonial, it foreshadowed the final and perfect sacrifice on the cross. Five days after the day of atone ment the full harvest was celebrat- ^i*!***” 1 of “even days during which the people dwelt in booths made of the branches of trees This commemorated the journeys in the wilderness. It was a season of rejoicing in which men acknowl edged God’s goodness. We may be reminded by it of our own Thanks giving Day in the autumn. Many lessons at value will ap pear in a close study of the Hebrew > festivals. Firsr is that the whole • round of our lives should be related unto God. Sugar Stamp No. 39 Expires April 31, 1946. Proposed Cotton Ceilings— To avoid some misapprehension among cotton growers, resulting from an apparent' misunderstand ing of proposed ceiling prices for lb76 cotton crop, Mr. E. H. Talbert, OPA District Director, clarified sev eral points, today. , Mr. Talbert quoted Chester Bowles, OPA Administrator, as saying*that the proposed ceilings in the advance notice represent the legal minimum levels at which ceilings would be established if it became necessary later. The prices in the notice are the lowest ceil ing prices that can be established, not the highest, he added. * Pointing out that the advance no tice is only legal action required to be taken • 15 days before the normal planting of a , , crop, Mr. Talbe# quoted Mr. Bowles as say ing, vit kj>: sincerely hoped that a program of ceiling prices will be unnecessary .alter the beginning of the 1946 marketing year: If it becomes evident that the, price of cotton is becoming stabilized be cause. of improvement in supply or other reasons, no ceiling? will be imposed.” , • ; • ’ . Price action affecting agricul tural products must be a joint de cision of the Secretary of Agricul ture and OPA, Mr. Talbert ex plained. ^ny ceiling imposed on cotton at a later date would re quire the approval of both agen cies. Sugar Dealers Suspended— The keen shortage still existing in sugar was reflected by OPA’s suspension during December of 84 southeastern sugar dealers from doing business in that commodity for violation of rationing regula tions, «Mr. Talbert, OPA District Director, said today. According to reports from the Regional Office in Atlanta. Mr. Talbert said that an additional 80 cases were instituted against other sugar dealers during the month. Sentences and fines imposed in 13 criminal convictions included three $750 fines and five two-year probation periods on prison sen tences, he added. Ceilings Set On Gas And Electric Stoves— Consumers may now purchase the new gas and electric stoves, beginning to reach retail stores, at 1942 levels, OPA District Director E. H. Talbert, said today. OPA dollar-and-cent prices on the two available types — the standard range and the apartment size stoves—vary widely just as Stove prices did before the war, Mr. Talbert explained. However, a typical price for a standard elec tric range is $189 and for an a- partment size electric stove, $157. A typical price for a gas stove is $75 for a small size and $95 for the standard range. Each stove will be preticketed Statement Of The Town Of McCormick From April 1945 To December 31st, 1945 $ 9.471.21 8,334.59 Is now equipped with Electronic Pasteuray Insures meats which are .
