JPhy? Experts say that the secret If exploding' this bomb will be dis severed anyhow by other nations rithin five years time. Is anyone ftguring on using it before then? Or Joes someone believe we will u$e it before that time? . For one nation to nossess this secret is bad enough: For two ■ations to possess it is twice . ns bad: For everyone to pos- ness it at this critical period might well prove fatal. The usual plea made for sharing lie secret with others is that they have become suspicious of us be- sause we have not done so. Well, Shat is just too bad! Maybe we too are suspicious of others, but if so, (t is not because they have not gra-, riously handed over to us every armament secret which they pos sess — and you can safely wager that they have plenty. Can anyone even with the most enlarged and vivid pow ers of imagination conceive of Russia, or any other nation for that matter, possessing such a ; secret and sharing it with us? Then why must we always be expected to be the world’s fore most billy-goats? If early in the war we had per fected the atomic bomb, we would have shared it with our Allies. There was a reason then but there is none now. This device is safe in the hands of no one, so why borrow trouble and advance the date of the fear complex which will be a chron ic burden of all mankind just as soon as this deadly secret becomes known to others? Let us have a few more years of “life without fear.” If and when atomic energy can be used for the benefit of mankind tben share it with the world. Until then let us guard this terrible se cret with our very lives — not to use it against others—ever again— but to prevent its use by others until the world has had time to di gest its terrible meaning. , •, ! We cannot believe He desired that.aQ His followers should be gathered into one visible church, i Any ecclesiastical body that claims. to be the only church violates the spirit of Christ. Soon came the contention Jesus . wanted His followers to escape. When Paul and Barnabas returned from the first missionary journey, they found “judaizers” insisting feat gentile converts submit to Jew ish rites, in short, become JeWs be- ‘ fere becoming Christians. The church in Antioch sent Paid, Barnabas and others to the mother church in Jerusalem to ask for a settlement of the vexed question. Some in the Jerusalem church had come of the sect of Pharisees mad they made the same demand which had been made by the judaiz- ers in Antioch, but they were in the minority. Judas, called Barnabas, and Silas were sent with Paul and fee others to inform the Antioch •church of the majority decision. Careful study of Acts 15:29 shows feat James and his associates were concerned both to free Chris tians from- Jewish narrowness and to protect them from wicked pagan practices. Their decision saved Christianity from being a merely Jewish sect and freed it for a world-wide mission. The occasion of the contention at Antioch soon passed.
