He also develops accounting systems for gov ernment agencies, inspects projects for pos sible savings, reorganizes sections of the gov ernment, and weighs agency requests for ap propriations. • Smith is a stocky, middle-sized man rarely seen in political circles. They learned the many uses of a First Aid Kit through their health lessons and decided to give one to the school, since we didn’t have one. Sara Will Talbert was awarded the prize for the best health notebook in the room. BOND DRIVE The grammar school is still showing a fine spirit in the bond 'Mve. Our quota is $1,000 dollars which we are sure we will reach. Our present amount is $867.80. The class giving the largest a- mount will be given a Valentine party by the other grades. FORESTRY CONTEST Mr. Beckman, District Forest Ranger, and Mr. George Sharp- ton, Forest Ranger, of McCormick County, were visitors here Tues day. Mr. Beckman, '(luring a special chapel program, empha sized the importance of fire^ con trol. He conducted a contest— questions in forestry—in which six students participated. Mr. Beckman urged us to re member the slogan “Our careless ness is the secret weapon of the enemiesi” BOY SCOUTS The Boy Scouts of Troop 71 met in regular form Thursday night. Gary Brown opened the meeting with the Scout oath. Belton Har mon followed with the Scout Laws. Boxing and the playing of crows and cranes were enjoyed. Billy Bosdell closed the meeting with the Great Scoutmaster’s Bene diction. This week, February 8 th througn 15th is National Boy Scout week. Scouts, Cubs, and Scout Leaders, will celebrate the 34th birthday of the organization. Troop Scribe.
