Salley, field super visor for the Emergency Crop anc Feed Loan Office, stated tha + farmers of McCormick County ar now applying for loans to fi nance the production of then .1944 crops. Applications for loans rre now being written in thr ^ourt House at Mcuormick, s. v He stated that, in addition to fi rancing the production of crops regularly grown in this vi cinity, loans were also being mad' for the. produdfcion of those crop declared essential to and so vital .’y needed in the war effort thr year. Plans for 1944 call for in creased production of many food crops. The production goal for ruch of these crops as the Ex tension Service considers can be successfully planted and grown in McCormick County should be met. The need for funds neces- ? ary for the production of these crops will be given special con- rideration with the view that credit will be extended, wherever needed, so that no farm family will be denied the opportunity to make its maximum contribution to the Food Production Program. Emergency crop loans are a- vailable to farmers, either owners cr tenants, who own or can make arrangements for land to farm; who own or have the use of nec- < ssary workstock and equipment with which to farm, and whc qan give as security a first lien ' n the crops to be financed These loans will be made to farmers whose cash requirements are relatively small and who arc unable to obtain loans sufficien' to meet their needs from othei rources, including local banks and production credit associations. Loans are also available for th: purchase or production of feec ler livestock whose products wii bo marketed, for livestock to b fed for the market, or for breed- i. g animals with the increase tc be marketed, but, as security, a first lien on such livestock is re quired. Mr. Salley emphasized tha' these loans are not restricted t selected applicants but are avail- rble to all farmers who can es tablish eligibility, according tc terms of the loan regulations and the authorizing Act of Con gress.
