Boyd join ed her in La. From there Mrs. Boyd accompanied Sgt. Boyd back to Trenton, N. J., where Sgt. Boyd is stationed. Mrs. Boyd is the former Miss Frances Jennings of McCormick. Mr. Charles R. Strom, Jr., S 2-c, U. S. Navy, has returned to Maryland, after spending about a week here with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. C. R. Strom. Mrs. Martin Harrell of Whig- ham, Ga., is visiting in the home of her sister, Mrs. J. P. Deason. Mr. Maurice White of McCor mick and Reverend - Maxcy G. White, Missionary to Brazil, South America, made a short visit to Mr. and Mrs. B. I. Bladon of Plum Branch on Monday of last week. Mrs. E. B. Brown, Mrs. John N. Talbert and daughter, little Miss Julifi Ann Talbert, left yesterday for a visit to Mrs. W. C. Reedy of Tampa, Fla. Rev. J. S. Dukes, Jr., who un derwent an appendectomy at the Greenwood Hospital two weeks ago, has been recuperating at the ! home of his parents, Mr. and Mr. Charles H. Williams, U. S. Naval Reserve, has recently been advanced in rating to Yeoman Second Class which is equivalent to that of Staff Sergeant in the Army. Yeoman Williams is doing secretarial duty in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations at the Navy Department, Washing ton, D. C. Mr. and Mrs. William T. Dukes of Laurens announce the birth of a daughter, Miriam Evelyn, May 25th, at the Batesburg Hospital. Mrs. Dukes is the former Miss Evelyn Gunter of near Leesville. -X- Q’Neal-Morgan Engagement Announced Mr. and Mrs. J. M. O’Neal of Selma, N. C., announce the engagement of their daughter, Dorothy Reid, to Mr. Charles C. Morgan, Jr., of McCormick, S. C., the wedding to be solemnized in the summer.
