Talbert manufacturer, because he is forced to pay his employees higher wages, will raise prices to more than compensate for his increased costs. If a manufacturer raises his prices the wholesaler and retailer do the same. Then the customer finds he has to pay more for his purchases and works on his boss for a wage increase. When he gets it, the company that he works for increases prices to compensate for wage increases and price of raw materials is boosted. Thus a vicious price spiral is launched which does no one any good in the end and brings suf fering to those who have to pay higher prices but have been un able to share in wage increases. These days there are some price increases which probably cannot be avoided. But the danger point in inflation is usually reached when prices are pegged for no other reason than extra profit. To keep inflation from becoming any more dangerous than neces sary, we should all fight against the profiteer—against the retailer who boosts prices merely to make extra profit for himself, against the landlord who raises rents even though his taxes remain the same and against the hoarder who forces price increases by creating scarcities. Inflation is caused primarily by selfishness. If all of us try to avoid profiteering, even in little ways, inflation will be kept under control. —Buy Defense Bonds— X Christmas Seal Sales Total $232.76 In McCormick County 1.00 1.00 J. We can easily see that the ship would become help less in the middle of its trip, and the fault would be with the ones who failed to get the necessary provisions for the other five hun dred miles. Friends of McCormick County, we are on a similar trip, however ours can be one that will not prove hopeless if you want to help load this ship, the name of our ship is: THE WAR FUND DRIVE, the cost of this ship is ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS, we are getting ready to sail for we have been called, however our ship isn’t ready, for we only have the hull finished, the hull cost about six hundred dollars, this six hundred dollars was given by those folks who realized that the call we had was urgent. We need an engine for this ship and the cost of it will be FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS, we hope to get the right engine for if we start out with a cheaper one we are afraid that it won’t quite make the trip. Won’t you help us get this engine? Won’t you give your share today, so we can soon be off? This is not a pleasure ship, but it is a ship that will bring relief to your sons, and your neighbors, sons who are calling each day for us to hurry and come on. We received a very nice contri bution from De la Howe School last week. If there are other schools in the county that will help we will greatly appreciate your doing so. Most common forms of Rheumatic Pains are due to muscular congestion which hinders free circulation of blood and causes pressure on nerves. That is why to check these pains so many famous physicians favor the use of an Internal medicine such as RUX COMPOUND. RUX ingredients work from the Inside (where the pains actually are) and so are avail able to act quickly on congestion and pain. RUX also contains valuable diuretic- and sys temic alkalizers to aid the outgo of uric acid thru the kidneys. % RESOLVE to see how much RUX COM POUND may mean to you in added comfort, sleep, ease, and enjoyment of work and pleasure. Many parents who are other wise scrupulous about the physi cal welfare of their children are apt to be lax in giving proper at tention to their first teeth. De spite constant warnings of doctors and dentists, the notion still per sists that since these so-called “milk teeth” will be replaced later on by the permanent molars, they do not need any special care. Such an attitude is as dangerous as it is false. The condition of a child’s teeth has a direct bearing- on his general health. Moreover, when the first teeth are well cared for the permanent set is given a sound, healthy founda tion. More important still, habits of mouth hygiene installed in a young child are of inestima ble value because they carry over into later life and insure, in some measure, protection against the adult diseases which have their source in infected teeth and gums. A child should learn to use his toothbrush as soon as he learns to use his fork and spoon. Inci dentally, to be sure he has a tiny brush with soft bristles that will Abram Blanding, Elvy Freeman, THESE^ ARE THEREFORE, to Sara L.
