Miss Elizabeth Cothran, student nurse of Baltimore, Md., visited relatives here this week. Mr. j'; B. Harmon, Jr., left Tues day for Columbia where he will be a patient in the Veterans’ Hos pital for awhile. Miss Katherine McKinney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. McKinney, underwent an opera tion Tuesday at the State Park Sanatorium, Columbia. She is re ported as doing nicely. • Mr. P. C. Dorn, who has been receiving treatment at the Uni versity Hospital in Augusta, Ga., will return to his home here to day. His condition is reported as greatly improved. After a month’s stay with Prof, and Mrs. D. L. Wideman of Wray, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Wideman are visiting Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Langley of Charleston, S. C. furniture, rugs, etc., for his store here, which are arriving daily. Among the clemson College students spending the week end at their homes in and near town were, Messrs. Alex Hanvey, Charles Morgan, Herbert Sturkey, Lawrence Strom, Henry Hester, Rudolph Strom and Hubert Bowick. Mt. Carmel News Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Driskell from Norris, Tenn., spent the past week end with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hollo way and with the former’s mother in Monticello, Ga. Mrs. Willie Gunter of Leesville is spending this week here as guest of her mother, Mrs. Miriam Hughes. Miss Blanche Sawyer of Edge- field was a business visitor here Monday. Mrs. David Robinson of Augusta is spending this week here with her father, Mr. H. Drucker. Mrs. Drucker is in New York this week. * Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Huguley spent several days last week in Atlanta as guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Price. Mrs. W. S. Arrington returned Thursday from Winter Garden, Fla., where she spent ten days with Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Arring- Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Cannon from Athens, Ga., moved to an apart ment in Mr. J. W. Corley’s resi dence on Augusta street here Monday. Mr. Cannon, an experi enced embalmer and funeral di rector, will be connected with the J. S. Strom undertaking establish ment. Mr. J. L. Jennings. Mrs. Isabelle Bentley and Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Jennings visited Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Jennings of Charlotte, N. C„ one day last week. Mrs. O’Neil Strom and baby from Whiteville, N. C., are spend ing this week here with Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Strom. Miss Bessie Keller of Saluda has returned home after spending the past week v/ith Miss Ruth Corley. Mr. T. P. Bouchillon of Pied mont was among the visitors here Monday. Mr. J. S. Strom has just return ed from High Point, N. C., where he purchased a large stock of Sorry to have to say that Mrs. Hunter McKinney and Martha Jean have been on our sick list for the past 10 days. Our last re port was both are able to be up and getting on nicely. We hope for them a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. D. J. McAllister; Mrs. Ida Black, Mrs. D. L. Bryson, Mrs. T. B. Frazier and Mrs. Claude Lanier attended the funeral of Mrs. Daisy Blackwell at Abbeville Sunday afternoon. The many friends of Mrs. Myrtle Mauldin and family will regret to J hear of her sudden illness which necessitated taking her to the Anderson Hospital. We all hope she will soon be restored to health. Mrs. Carrie Tarrant has return ed home from a visit to Mr. and Mrs. B. O. Black in Walterboro and a short stay in Edgefield. Sen. L. L. Hester spent the week end at his home here. We all miss Sen. Hester during his ab sence and all are glad to see him home for the week ends. Mr. L. L. Hester of the Medical College, Charleston, spent a recent week end here. Miss Flo Hester of Calhoun Falls spent the week end with Miss Carolyn Hester. Mrs. W. A. Scott, Mrs. Cecil Gil liam and Miss Juanita Curtis were recent visitors in Abbeville and Greenwood. Mrs. Eula Scott was a recent business visitor in McCormick. Mrs. Carrie Tarrant spent some days in Edgefield with Mr. and Mrs. Mann Lawton, and visiting her sister, Mrs. Gladys Ives, who was a recent operative patient in the University Hospital. Mrs. Ives is pleasantly remembered here as Miss Gladys Boykin, and many friends will hope for her a speedy recovery. Mrs. Oscar Lanier, Mrs. T. B. Frazier and Mrs. D. L. Bryson of Calhoun Falls were pleasant guests of Mrs. Ida Black Sunday. Dr. S. W. Reid of McCormick v/as a guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Curtis for dinner Sunday. Miss Minnie Lee Winn honored^ Mrs. Wilbur Whatley, formerly Miss Azilee Mayson, attractive daughter of Mr. M. S. Mayson. with a miscellaneous shower at the Sullivan school house, Satur day afternoon. The Valentine idea and color scheme was carried out. Lively and appropriate con tests were conducted by Miss Thelma M. Gilchrist and Mrs. Harold Corley.
