Crawford attended the wedding of their son, Mr. Robert Wesley Crawford, and Miss Ann Bellamy at Loris on Sunday, June 1st. Mr. and Mrs. Carl S. Hogal, Miss Maryleen McKinney of Columbia spent the week end with relatives near town. The many friends of Mr. James G. McKinney will be glad to know he is convalescing at the home of Mr. R. T. McKinney after return ing from the Abbeville Hospital. Mr. R. M. Rush of Troy, who underwent an operation for ap pendicitis at the Greenwood Hos pital two weeks ago and has been Mrs. William Patterson was hostess at a beautiful tea here Monday afternoon complimenting her sister-in-law, Mrs. Pat Schuler, a recent bride, and Miss Vivian Arant, of Chappells, former college roommate of Mrs. Patterson, bride- elect of the summer. The large receiving room was transformed with numerous ever greens, potted plants and summer flowers into a veritable garden. A vine covered trellis cut off a dining room where ice cream and cake were served by Mrs. J. T. McGrath, Jr., Mrs. T. J. Sibert, Jr., Misses Vir - ginia Freeland and Emma Rankin. Mrs. Rupert Talbert, Mrs. J. O. Patterson, Mrs. N. G. Rankin and Mrs. A. J. Hendrix. Miss Anne Johnson of Edgefield* and Miss Blonde Schuler of Elloree served dainty mints from tiny arm baskets. Delicious punch was served by Miss Mary Remsen and Miss Mary Holland of Ninety Six. Guests were met by Mrs. C. K. Epting and Mrs. Paul R. Brown. Mrs. Leon Traylor and Mrs. W. H. Wyse of Yamessee presented them to the receiving line, composed of the hostess, the honorees, Mrs. G. C. Patterson, the bride’s mother, and Mrs. W. E. Schuler of Elloree, mother of the groom, Miss Lucy Arant of Chappells and Mrs. Lyn wood M. Johnson of Edgefield. Miss Vivian Adair and Miss Fan nie Miller of Orangeburg presided at the registers and dainty favors were pinned on by Misses Mary Fuller and Mary Frances Slade. Music was furnished by Misses Ruth McKee, Anne Bussey and Mary Louise Seigler and Margaret Holland of Ninety Six, and Mrs. Bill Bracknell of Plum Branch. Fred Buzhardt and Mrs. J. E. Bell entertained with a beauti ful tea in honor of Miss Virginia Freeland, popular bride-elect. The Buzhardt home was a scene of beauty with a profusion of sweet peas, snap dragons and sweet williams. Only green and white were used in the dining room where block cream and cakes were served. Guests were greeted at the front by Mrs. C. K. Epting and Mrs. J. F. Mattison and presented to the receiving line by Mrs. J. W. Fur- queron. Receiving with the host esses and honoree were Mrs. W. M. Miss Jane Bracknell Outstanding Student At Coker College Hartsville, May 31.—Graduating as a major in English, Miss Jane Bracknell of Plum Branch was one of the forty seniors at Coker col lege who received their degrees last week. Miss Bracknell was prominent in student dramatic productions and student publications. She was a member of the Coker Drama club and of Alpha Psi Omega, national dramatics fraternity. Ever since her sophomore year she has been a staff member of the Periscope, the Coker student news paper. This past year she was business manager of the Periscope, and the year before, advertising manager. Active in intra-mural athletics, Miss Bracknell served this year on the Coker Athletic Association council. She was elected senior class historian by her classmates. She was also this year awarded the Greek Palm for distinguished work in English. Miss Bracknell was a member of Sigma Tau Delta, national English fraternity, and the Coker Glee club. Her name also appears on the Dean’s Honor roll of 1941 which was announced at the com mencement convocation. . This honor roll includes the names of all Coker students who have main tained an average of B or more during the past year on all their academic work. x L. L.
