Watch the bean carefully and apply poison when the first beetles show up. They will always be found on the under side of the leaves and therefore whether spraying or dusting it will be necessary to use a gooseneck or | upturned nozzle. • j. Main reliance in bean beetle control should be placed in in secticides, however, it is just as important to destroy crop rem nants to prevent further breeding and to promote vigorous growth so that the leaf area eaten will not be missed by the plant in its fruiting activity. 1 The following materials will control the bean beetle if applied promptly and thoroughly: Spray with 5 level teaspoonfuls magnesium arsenate in one gallon water or dust with 1 nart mag nesium arsenate and three parts' hydrated lime. Apply to under side of leaves. | Dust with three-fourths of one per cent rotenone content (Derris) ! dust. Anply to under side of leaves with duster. Agent. xx Executive Post In Social Security Board To Be Filled By Test; The United States Civil Service Commission has announced that applications will be accepted not l-.ter than June 5 for the position of director of Social Security Board Region VII, $6,500 a year. Region VII comprises the States of Alabama, Florida, Georgia. Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The appointee will act as responsible head of all activi ties of the Social Security Board within the region. Competitors will not be required to report for written examination, but will be rated on the basis of their experience and fitness. At least 5 years of experience in the f’eld of social v/elfare, or indus trial relations, or labor legislation, including at least 3 years of re sponsible administrative experi- enee. is required. This examination is open only to actual, bona fide, legal, or vot ing residents of one of the State* included in Region VII. Appli cants must not have passed their sixtieth birthday. Full information may be ob tained from the Secretary of the United States Civil Service Board of Examiners at the post office or customhouse in any city in the States named above which has a post office of the first or second class, or from the United States Civil Service Commission, Wash ington, O.
