Dairy Report Shows Drop In Feed Cost For Game Warden I hereby announce my candidacy for the office of Game Warden for McCormick County, subject to the rules and regulations of the Dem ocratic primary. Your support and influence shall be highly appreciat ed. O. B. MINER. For Game Warden I hereby announce my candidacy Clemson, June 20.—The average feed cost of all cows on test ir the Dairy Herd Improvement As sociation of South Carolina ha? dropped steadily since March, and production has held up well, de- pite the drought and poor pastures ccording to the May report of the ssociation released by C. G. Cush- lan, dairy specialist of Clemr.or -ollege Extension Service. The feed cost per 100 pounds of lilk for May was $1.05, compared -vith $1.21 for March and $1.16 for ;pril. “There is but one explanation for he lesser cost of milk per 100 nounds in spring and summer, and that is the greater amount of nu trients coming from grass”, Mr. Bushman said. “This points, there fore, to further improvement of pastures. Get them sooner in the spring. Keep them up later in the fall. Make full use of winter and summer annual grazing crops. That, plus good cows, is the road to economical milk production in South Carolina.’’ The natural nitrate folks point out that Simply Sybil’s Pallas is a creature specially gifted with the - ital spark that only Nature car supply—a perfect balance of al tiie elements that make the great champion. It is this natural balance they explain, that makes the dif- ierence between the ordinary cow and the one that wins the judges award at the National Dairy Show An interesting parallel is drawn between the cow of cows and the natural nitrate. The latter, because it also is an example of Nature’s handiwork, contains a natural bal ance of vital elements over and be yond its nitrogen. Because of this natural balance of more than thir ty elements, such as boron, mag nesium, manganese, calcium, potas sium, iodine, etc., this natural plant food, like the champion Jersey cow, is like a dream come true. It is an amazing thing that Nature, in hei own mysterious way, creates a prod uct in the ground which, when returned to the ground, is a balanc ed food for the important Southern crops. County, S.
