Britt, who has been ill at his home in the Buffalo com munity the past week, is some what better at this time. Mrs. Janie Butler were spend the day guests Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Neel Edwards of Bradley. Mr. D. P. McCain spent Tuesday in Atlanta, buying mules and horses for the local market. Misses Ruth Young, Frances and Jacqueline Walker were the week end guests of Mrs. Jennings Frank lin and Maggie. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Minims of Greenville spent Saturday and Sun day here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Williams. Mr. John was a visitor Tuesday. Lindley of Bordeaux here a short while The many friends of Mrs. R. G. Killingsworth will be glad to know that she is improving, after an ill ness of three weeks from influ enza. The many friends of Mrs. J. J. Hester will regret to learn ot her continued illness at her hoipe in the Bellvue section. ; gugp, and Mrs. J. C. Yeung , and Mr. Willie Hester of Mt. Carmel was a visitor here Monday. past week, is reported to be con siderably better this morning. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Price of Union spent the week end here with rela tives. Mr. J. L. Jennings, who has been ill at his home here the past three weeks, is getting along fairly well at this time. Mrs. F. E. Williams spent Mon day in Columbia with her daughter, Mrs. J. C. Lever. Miss Mary Ellen Morrah of Co lumbia spent the week end with her father, Mr. W. D. Morrah, of the Bellvue section. The many friends of Miss Maggie Young will be glad to know she is able to be out, after being sick with “flu” for some time. Mrs. D. L. Carlisle and son, Dan, of Union spent the week end here In the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Walton. Dr. J. M. critically ill Brown, who has been at "his home here the Miss Carrie Sue Talbert of Co lumbia spent the week end here with her mother, Mrs. Georgia Tal bert. Mr. J. L. Smith spent a couple of days in Atlanta this week, buying mules for the local market. Mr. G. P. Young celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home near Troy. Upon arrival the guests were greeted by the host and hostess and asked to sign the register, at which Miss Frances Walker presided. Miss Willie Young showed the guests into the room where many beauti ful gifts were displayed. At noon the 47 guests were invit ed into the large dining rooms thrown together for the occasion: On the long table was used a gold satin cloth overlaid with a lace cover. Yellow spring flowers and fern were used as a centerpiece. A three course dinner was served by Mrs. J. C. Young, Misses Frances Walker and Ruth Young. In the afternoon the guests as sembled in the large living room where a very impressive service was held honoring John Henry Young, the only one of the twelve children not present at this happy reunion. He gave his life in the service of his country, dying in France during the World war. Leading this service was the Rev. W. C. Kerr of Abbe ville, pastor of Old Long Cane church, where this family has been prominently identified for several generations. Assisting him were the Rev. J. H. Buzhardt of Troy, and the Rev. W. L. Pressley of Greenwood. The first and - 23rd Psalms were sung. Mr. and Mrs. Young were mar ried January 29, 1885, r by Dr. H. T. Sloan. Mrs. Young is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Creswell of Troy and Mr. Young the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Young also of Troy. Dorn, plaintiff, vs. North American Gold Mines, Inc., defendant, was given to the jury at 4 o’clock that afternoon, and after deliberating until 11:30 o’clock Fri day morning the jury was unable to reach a verdict.
