Thursday, December 20, 1934 Baptist Sunday School Workers To Meet In Raleiah ZD Southern Baptist Sunday school workers will gather for a confer- • ence at Raleigh, N. C., January 1-4, 1935. It is expected that 4,500 persons outside of Raleigh will be in attendance upon this meeting. Mr. J. L. Corzine, director of Sun day school and Training Union work for South Carolina, has ac cepted for South Carolina a quota of 700 in attendance from this state. The Abbeville association is ex pected to have 20 workers in at tendance in this meeting. Dr. D. V Cason, McCormick, is the trans portation leader for this associa tion and is working at the matter of bringing the churches up to the quota goal. Every phase of modem Sunday school work will be discussed by experts and conferences on what is and what can be done in local churches, will have a prominent place in the program. Great in spirational hours have been plan ned and those in attendance will hear many of the outstanding Baptist ministers of the South, in cluding Dr. J. W. Brunner of Okla homa, Dr. Ellis A. Fuller of Georgia, Dr. Leon M. Latimer of South Carolina, as well as several out standing laymen, including Ex- Governor Pat. Neff of Texas. Exhibits of project and other hand work done in the various de partments will be displayed in the conference halls, affording an op portunity . to see what the best methods of teaching are producing in various parts of the South. The New Training Course for Sunday school workers will be ex plained and illustrated. This course, which takes the place of the old Convention Normal Training course, is much richer, more flex ible and extensive. It is being re ceived with much favor all over the South and, according to Mr. J. L. Corzine, South Carolina workers are already making splendid prog ress in its study. This conference is held only oc casionally, this being the first *ince 1930. It is conducted under the auspices of the Sunday School Board of the Southern Baptist Con vention. Cotton Ginning Figures Given By S. C. Counties COTTON GINNED PRIOR TO DE CEMBER 1 IN SOUTH CARO LINA: CROPS OF 1934-1933 The Department of Commerce, through the Bureau of the Census, announces the preliminary report on cotton ginned prior to Decem ber 1, by counties, in South Caro- ina, for the crops of 1934 and 1933. The total for the State was made public on Saturday, Decem ber 8. (Quantities are in running bales. MASTER’S SALE Cotton Acre Rental And Pay- • ments In 1935 South Carolina producers co operating in the 1935 cotton pro duction adjustment program will xent 482,000 cotton acres to the Secretary of Agriculture under the 1935 provisions of the cotton con tract, it is estimated by the Agri cultural Adjustment Administra tion. Estimated rental and parity pay ments to South Carolina cotton producers under the 1935 program total $5,674,210, of which it is esti mated that rental payments will amount to $3,610,180 ‘and parity payments $2,064,030. Contract signers will be paid for their rent ed acres at the rate of 3 1-2 cents per pound on the average yield of lint cotton per a,cre for the years 1928-32 with a maximum rental of $18 per acre. They will also receive parity payments of 1 1-4 cents per pound on the farm allotment, which is equivalent to 40 ^per cent of the farmers’ average production for the base period of the farm -and represents that percentage of production which ordinarily moves into domestic consumption. In addition to the 1,004,000 con tracts covering approximately 38,- 210,000 acres, now in effect, new one-year contracts will be offered producers who did not sign the two-year contracts. It is estimated .that the offer of new contracts will increase the base acreage by at least one million acres. An acre age reduction of approximately 40 per cent was accomplished in 1934. While the maximum reduction that may be asked for 1935 under the contract is 25 per cent, contract signers will have the option of re ducing their base acreage as much as 30 per cent and will receive pay ments accordingly. The optional reduction of an additional five per cent is to permit more latitude in arrangement of the farm plans of individual producers. If a total of approximately five million acres is planted by non contract signers, the total planted cotton acreage in 1935 is expected to b3 approximately 34,100,000 acres. The planted acreage in 4934 was 28 million acre*,. STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, County of McCormick, In The Court of Common Pleas M. G. & J. J. DORN, Plaintiffs, against John T. McGrath, D. M. McGrath.
