In the Pee Dee section where in festations now average less than ^hree per cent, a slight Increase m infestation has been noted, the reports show. The greatest de crease in infestation occurred in ’fee southwestern portion of the state where infestations as high as 50 per cent were reported, dbough most of the agents report infestations of 14 per cent or less M this area. SUPERVISOR’S REPORT CLAIMS PAID BY THE SUPERVISOR MARCH 1, 1934. Two world records were broken when the one-millionth Ford V-8 car came off the assembly line at the great Rouge plant of the Ford Motor Company, under the watchful eye of Henry Ford. One was a record production of 8-cyllnder cars, the Ford total surpassing that of the balance of the industry both here jand abroad. Ford also holds-the daily 8-cylinder production record with a daily total of 4,651 V-8,cars. ,When the one-mllllonth Ford V-8 was completed, Edsel B. Ford, president of the Ford Motor Company drove it off the line. The car then was rushed to Chicago where it was put on display with fitting ceremonies in the famous Ford Drama of Transportation at the Ford Exposition building as the representa tive of the 1934 Ford car in the dramatic cycle which pictures the development of transportation through the ages. The one-millionth Ford V-8 was approximately the 21,900,000th Ford ever built. The 22,000,000th will come off the line some time in July. This includes $3,127,392, ap portionments for education to the minor civil divisions of the State. In 1931 the per capita for operation and maintenance of general de partments was $7.24 and in 1917. $1.82. The interest on debt in 1932 amounted to $3,040,568; and out lays for permanent improvements. $8,417,390.
