Stallworth, who has been confined to her room at the Connor Hotel with a severe cold for the past week, will not be able to meet any appointments for a few more days. She hopes to be able to begin the meat canning program next week. Miss Eunice Jennings of White Town section returned home Mon day, after a week’s visit to her sis ters in Landrum, S. C., and Tryon, N. C. Miss Frances McGrath of Green ville is here on a visit to her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. D. M. McGrath. Miss Alleen Arrington returned to her home here Tuesday from the Greenwood Hospital where she un derwent an operation for appendi citis about Jten days ago. She con tinues to get along nicely. The Messenger has a number of Santa Claus letters on hand now for next week’s paper and will try to print all of them and others that are sent in in time for that issue. Children who expect to write let ters for next week’s issue are asked to get them to this office not later than Monday noon. » r . Frank Mattison, probate judge. Mr. .Dillashaw is a prominent barber of McCormick, and Mrs. Dillashaw is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Spence. The many friends of this couple wish them a long and happy married life. The Roman Chfistians, knowing that Paul was coming, sent delegations to meet him at the Fo rum of Appius, more than 45 miles from the city, and at the Three Taverns, about 12 miles nearer. Their warm welcome naturally cheered him, especially as he was. a prisoner in bonds. During his two years of imprison-- ment at Rome, the apostle was treated with unusual kindness. Al though continually chained to & soldier, he was permitted to live to his own hired house and receive friends and visitors. He was further permitted to preach a,nd write Four of his epistles, Philemon^ Co- lossians, Ephesians and Philippians were evidently written at this time. All of these are worthy of close study, especially the personal, in formal letter to the Philippians, a . touching revelation of the passion- y r,te warmth of Paul’s nature. , Paul’s confinement ended with his conviction as an insurrection ist, and his execution about the year 58. According to tradition he was beheaded outside the city walls. ; So ended the life of the greatest of the apostlesi the might- ' lest missionary of the age* who did more than any other to extend the domain Of Christ.
