Castles and children of Great Falls were dinner guests of Mrs. Fannie and Misses Florence and Susie Patterson. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Boyd were also dinner guests. It has been a habit here for years at the Thanksgiving season to remember our pastor with some gift, and I am glad and happv te sav. even if it is hard times, thev were generously nounded bv all denominations. Again I say thank you. X Trench Silos Worth Much To Farmers Thanksgiving passed very quietly here, save the occasional sound of a gun. There was quiet and peace. Mr. and Mrs. Ousley and grand son, Eugene Paul, of Greenville spent the week end in the com munity. Mrs. J. K. Durst and daughters and other members of the family visited Mrs. Ethan White Thanks giving afternoon. Mrs. Durst is the only surviving sister of Mrs. White’s father, Mr. D. P. Self. Mrs. J. E. Reynolds spent the Thanksgiving holidays at home. Mrs. Carrie Talbert and Miss Mary Thompson snent Thanksgiv ing afternoon with Mrs. Carrie Freeland and Carrie Belle Free land, bringing sunshine with them to the shut-ins. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Freeland and children visited Mrs. Janie Morgan and daughter Sunday afternoon. Mrs. E. M. Morgan had a spend the day party of relatives Sunday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Leon Johnson and daughter, Mrs. Shealey and daughter, Mrs. Cole A few months ago when trench silos were being constructed on the farms of Jack Gable of Troy and B. F. Parks of Parksville, many dairymen expressed themselves as wishing to see the keeping quali ties of the silage. Now is a good time to make observations. Mr. Gable has been feeding from his silo for several days. This particular silo is 30 feet long. 7 feet wide and 7 feet deep and will hold 18 tons of silage. The total cost of digging the trench including cost of roof was $20.00. The trench silo is one way of economically increasing winter milk production. It furnished a green succulent feed during drougth periods and during the winter when grazing crops are not available. These silos have more than doubled number in adjoining counties thati tried them out last year. I am sure that Mr. Parks or Mr. Gable would welcome visitors whe* are interested in digging a site next year. E. L.
