The State says, one hundred and » i fifteen persons, convicted of driv- ^ , ing automobiles while intoxicated | on state highways, paid $4,778 in pf fines in July, bringing the total &£ number of convictions by members of the state highway patrol since ||r January 1 to 508 and fines from this offense to $20,088.25. Si Total convictions on all offenses for July were 808 out of 859 arrests and fines amounted to $13,759 J<g Since the first of the year 5,872 ^ persons have been arrested, o whom 5,436 were convicted and who > paid $80,987.50 in fines. Convictions by the offices since |p July 1 have led to the suspension p of 144 drivers’ licenses, all for 60 H' days except three, which are for one year. Suspensions are based on arrests for driving while drunk or in a habitually reckless manner $r I. Careless, reckless driving and ^ speeding caused 203 cases made by the patrol and resulted in 198 con- H fictions and $2,597.50 in fines col lected. The compilation of offenses, showing the number of convictions, the number of cases dismissed, :!f any, and the amount of fines for each offense, follows: Driving without proper motor vehicle licenses, 54, eight and $595; using wrong motor vehicle licenses, 52, three $1,280; failure to transfer ownership, ten and $80; not pos sessing driver’s license, 147, 18 and $1,625; borrowing driver’s license, 1*7 and $245; improper motor ve hicle lights. 107, 10 and $1,067.50; no buggy or wagon lights, 15 and $62; careless, reckless driving and speeding, 198, five and $2,597.50: operator motor vehicle intoxicated, 115, one and $4,778. Also not stopping upon entering highway, seven. $57: throwing glass on highway, two, $25; obstructing highway, one, one and $5; over loading vehicles, eight and $115; disorderly conduct on highways, 42 and $780; hauling lumber or logs not chained, one and $10; defec tive brakes, five and $105, and oth- sr violations, 27, five and $332. Against a total expense since January 1, of $85,779.41, the patrol has been responsible for the collec tion of $91,165.60 in license fees and $80,987.50 in fines for highway vio lations for a total of $172,153.10.
