Hamilton of Green wood spent Sunday here in the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Newby. Mr. and Mrs. John L. Kennedy and children from Grovetown, Ga., spent Sunday here in the home of his sister, Mrs. J. E. Britt. Mr. ?. J. Smoak of Orangeburg and Mr. H. H. Smoak, 3r., and H. H., Jr., from Meggetts spent the week end here in the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. McCain. Mr. Archie Boggs Kennedy of San Francisco, Calif., is spending some time here with his aunt, Mrs. Onnie Kennedy Haggard, and oth er relatives in and near town. Mr. and Mrs. Metz Price of Greenville spent Sunday here with relatives. Mr. G. H. McCain and family at tended the funeral of their oroth- er-in-law, Mr. A. A. Way, near Orangeburg last Wednesday. It will be remembered that Mr. Way Was shot by a negro at his filling station on Saturday night, May 16, the wounds proving fatal the fol lowing Monday. Mrs. W. M .Talbert is spending a week or more with relatives at Helena, Newberry County. Miss Janie Mcllwain, Mrs. W. B. Nickles, Miss Dorothy Nickles and Master Winston Nickles from Hodges were visitors here Saturday afternoon. Mr. JSrnest Hollingsworth, Sr., who has been a patient at an in firmary in Augusta the past sev eral weeks, had improved suffici ently to return to his home near Bethany Tuesday. Mr. G. H. McCain and family left this morning for Glenn Springs to open their boarding house for the summer. We meet the third Tuesday in June in the home of Mrs. W. It. Gilchrist. There were about twenty present and several of these were visitors. Always :!lad to nave visitors. The W. M. S. met with Mrs. J. P. Talbert Friday afternoon. A Tood programme was carried out with the president, Mrs. E. M. Winn, in charge. As people are so busy now there were only about 10 present. Mrs. Talbert, with the help of her young daughter, served refreshing scuppanong drink with cake. Any who have grapes should can some for drinks; it’s lelicious. We regret that the sick list is in creasing. Our oldest member, Mrs. Kathryn Hughey, continues luite sick at her home and her daughter, Mrs. L. E. White, is there ill. Mr. W. A. Winn is still unable to come home from Greenwod hospital. Fear the loss of an eye. He now thinks a cinder from a passing train blew into his eye. He has suffered terribly. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Rehoboth. x MT. CARMEL NEWS REHOBOTH NEWS The Home Demonstration Club had a very pleasant meeting last Tuesday in the home of Mrs. Min nie Winn. She met her guests with her usual smiling face. After a short business session the meet ing was turned over to Mrs. Stall- worth, who ably lectured on “Screening of unsightly places around the homes.” Vines were dis cussed mostly. Mrs. Stallworth gave five minutes to see who could write the most names of vines in five minutes. Most of them work ed in pairs. Mrs. W. A. Winn^and your correspondent wrote 23 names in five minutes. Mrs. J. P. Talbert and Mrs. B. S. Culbreath came next with 19 vines, all these vines would hide a lot of short coming.
