The Dead Man's Wife and Father, Accused of the Crime, Captured and Lodged in Saluda Jail. A telephone message from Saluda brought information that Sheriff Rhoden and his deputy, on Sunday morning, succeeded in capturing S. 1H. Banks and his daughter, Sallie Cockerell, who were, last Friday, charged by the coroner's jury with the killing of Smith Cockerell t1vo weeks ago. They were in the act of boarding the six o'clock train for Augusta when taken into cus tody. Banks carried a gun a-nd a huge Smith & Wesson pistol, and his daugh ter had a large knife. Both are now in jail. Banks stated that he had no idea of trying to escape, but wanted to get his daughter off until bail could be secured. JAMES D. NANCE CAMP. Regular Meeting -- Election of Mnibers Monument Square Turned Over To the Camp. The regular meeting of James D. Nance Camp was held in the court house yesterday. Conimnandant J. W. Gary presided. The following new members were elected: W. L. Waters, Co. F, 14th regiment; W. W. Griffin Co. D,. 13th regiment; Chas. E Plunkett Co. D, 13th regiment; Henry T. Fellers Co. A, 4th Battalion State Reserve;. -On, ielegate and one alternate were elect to meet like delegates from oth, amps to fix a permanent place for ( State reunion. Adjutant 0. L. Schumpert with M. M. Harris as alter %nate were appointed. The following communication was read which explains itself:t Whereas, the James D. Nance Camp, No 336, U. C. V., at a recent meeting passed the following resolution, to-wit: 'Resolved, that our adjutant be reques ted to confer with the county board of commissioners andl get their p)ermission to enclose wvith a neat iron railing that art of the p)ublic square belowv the I ourt house known as 'Monument Square,' and to induce said board to turn over to saidl camp and to the local chapter of the (daughters of the confed eracy the square so enclosed, in order that this monument to our- sacred dleadl may receive, from lov'ing and( sympa thetic hands. that care and attention which it so eminently deserves", And whereas, this hoard heart:ly areand concurs with the idlea ex .pesdin said r-esolution.
