Mr. (eorge Whitman, aged about 5o years, died at his home in West End on Tuesday morning. His remains were carried to Sharon church, Kinard, on Wednesday for burial. Davis, of the Newberry Cotton Mills, was elected Grand' Master of the Independent Order Odd Fellows, of this State, and only a few weeksbefore that Mr. J. IH. Hair was elected Great Sachemn of the State at the Great Council Iuproved Order Red Men. This certainly shows that Newberry is at the front as far as honors are con ce"rned in secret orders.
